Default New tires for 400+rwhp m6 car on stock 10-bolt

Im looking at buying new rear tires my current ones are crappy 315-35-17 sumi HTRs. They spin like crazy through 1st and 2nd. Im looking for a tire that will minimize spinning in 1st-2nd but still give enough to keep my 10-bolt safe id like to go to the track once or twice this year just to screw around. I would like to stay under 200 per tire and get 10-20k miles out of them. So far Ive looked at

Nitto 555R's Im worried If I visit the track at all these will break my 10-bolt.

Nitto 555's there wear is nice but I dont think they will hook 1st and 2nd at all either.

Nitto NT05's Seem like there more for cornering and the are a bit more expensive.

You guys have any suggestions/opinions on what tires might fit my needs? Thank in advance

I'd vote for NT555Rs. You want traction but don't want to break your rear. You can't have both. The Nittos will hook better than pretty much any street tire, but worse than any drag radial, which will keep your rear somewhat safe.

I dont even need a dead hook Id be happy with a controlled spin even. These sumi's just light up like crazy in 1st and 2nd. If you try to launch you have to just bog the motor or they just go up in smoke and you go no where.

That's why I suggested Nittos. Pretty cheap, can last a long time if you're not too hard on 'em, and don't hook all that well.

I vote Nitto 555R's. That's the only tire I ever run. And I'm yet to ever have a problem with a 10 bolt.

carefull on that 10 bolt if you want sticky tires.

The only BFG's I know of in 315-35 are drag radials also

Great traction, modest wear, good price without jeopardizing your 10-bolt -- that's pretty much a fantasy.

Let's toss out the 10 bolt concerns because those can go even on street tires.

If you're looking for great traction, modest wear and a good price, the 555R is the answer. If you prioritize durability over traction, go with the regular 555, however it is a distinct sacrafice on the traction side.

For example, I didn't get traction anywhere in 1st and 2nd on the street with my old street tire setup. Once I went with the 555R's in the rear I can keep control through 1st and 2nd plants pretty good on warm days....600+ rwhp on a 10 bolt (fingers crossed).

Do your research..go to discount and make them match prices and you are golden
agreee with above..ive seen a bunch break on street tires and a bunch last with a big stall/launch on Mickey Thompsons. I have had roughly 5 sets of Nitto 555r and they are the best median tire. I would usually get around 10-14k out of them.

Don't count on your 10-bolt. Mine crapped out on me with cheapo Falken tires, and they didn't have any thing close to traction. Just figure a new rear in to your budget if you want to launch decently.

NT05 are stickier than the 555 but a bit less than the 555R's. NT01 are for cornering.

Also check out the Toyo Proxes.
