go with the nittos... close to same tread wear and traction for a lot less money then the mickeys. If you want the best tread life with good hook but not quite as good as the others then go with the nitto 555r

nitto 555's are nowhere near the same traction wise as a m/t. the nt05r is close but still not as sticky as the m/t. i cant comment on treadwear yet on the nt05r but i get about 6-7k on m/t's.

unless your on the track all the time then go with eather of the nittos.
since you dont run at the track much i would say get the 555r's i have them and when heated up they stick very well.
my car isent the strongest car in the world but its decent im puting down 335hp and 353 of tq and with the nittos i can got wot at the track and almost dead hook and they been on my car for over 2 years and still have life left.

nitto's for the street. They'll last a lot longer. M/T's are great for hooking, but have a terrible tread life.

Hell yeah nitto's don't even come close to touching traction consistantly like a mickey thompson dude... Had them on both camaro's an they hooked so hard it was scary.... On eibach draglaunch springs 2001 z28 M6 i could get second for a few days cuz it hooked so hard!!! It took some practice and the tread wear isn't bad either as long as your not trying to do burnouts everywhere like most young kids an you don't drive like a jackass in the rain cuz mickey thompson will win everytime hands down...

If your stock motor with 410s run nitto 555Rs. You dont need any more tire than that... **** my nittos even held 2nd pretty well after the cam... but def not confident lol. I havent heard anything about the nt05s, but i have mickeys on my car right now and i promise you youll kick yourself in the nuts if you go with them. You are no where to needing that kind of tire for your power level and they will wear out to fast. I got almost 20K miles out of my 555Rs and have burned through about 80% of my mickey t's in 4500

For a car that is just a weekend car, a pair of MTs should last you the summer/fall. Unless your out smoking them.

there $171 a piece through discount tire direct, i just ordered 2 275/40/17 NT05R's through them for $342 shipped.

GMHTP said good things about the NT05R's so i figured i'd give them a try, i plan on doing a little mini-write-up when i get mine and hit the street and track a few times.

I also just bought two 275/40/17s for $340 shipped. Got them today and they feel pretty soft.

The NT-05R's should last about 7500 miles but the M/T's will only be good for 4000, maybe 5000 miles. The M/T's are also a lot more stickey but cost a lot more too. Both won't be good in the rain though.

The bead width on the 275s was exactly 8.5 inches with a sectional width of 10.75 so they should fit fine on 17 x 8.5s
