Default SS 10-spoke minimal tire size?

Hello eveyone,

I have some original 10-spoke SS-rims on my 1999 Z28.
The rims came with the original tires, but now I need new ones.
I'd like to have the fronts a little narrower than the rears.

What's the minimal sizes on these 17 inchers?

Thanks in advance!

Any reason you would want to do that? You are not going to reduce your rolling resistence very much, and you will give up grip.

245/45/17 is the smallest tire you should put on a 9" wide rim.

Something else to think about is if you get the same size all the way around you will be able to rotate them.

I have two reasons:
1) These tires are REALLY hard to get here in The Netherlands. I actually found only 1 (ONE) supplier here...
2) the car is very sensitive to (I'm not sure how you call it) tracks in the road surface (I don't mean railroad tracks, but like the little gutters in the road surface). I hope you understand. It gives a lot of reactions in the steering wheel.

He's referring to whats known as trammeling! The car following the rain grooves in the road. You could probably get away with using 235/50/17 if you can find tires in that size.

I think poeple even had trammeling issues with the 245/50/16's. It may be something that just has to be dealt with.

That's what I mean: trammeling...

Will the 235/50/17 's fit my SS-wheels?
I guess I would be alittle better of with narrower tires in the front than in the rear...

Thanks for all the reply's so far!

I just bought a set of CHEAP ten spokes and one has a 225 on it. Gonna replace that one for sure.

As an update to anyone searching this 245 is the smallest you should go.
