KDW's - how noisy & do they wander?
Just like the title says. I need to tires and I've narrowed it down to either KDW's or Firehawks. Any input on these? Should I be looking at others?
My Ws6 is a daily driver and see's all kinds of wx (maybe snow once or twice a year, but I am willing to suffer during those periods...)
Thanks!

go with the KDW's you will like them much better. They also look a lot better than the firehawks because of the way the bead sits on the lip of the wheel and they also run a lot wider than the firehawks. i'd say get the KD's though if you want a truly bad *** tire. i don't know about the snow because i don't see much of that here in houston but they aren't bad in the rain.

Should I stray from the stock size? I have the stock 17's on my Ws6. What width would you guys recommend?
Also, any comments on the Kuhma Exta mx (Sp???). I have also seen some favorable reviews on those as well.
Thanks for all the input! You guys are really helping me out w/a decision!

stay with the stock size on a stock wheel. the 275 is perfect for a 9 inch wheel. and stick with the KD or KDW's over the kumho's. the MX's are a great tire for the price but it's still the poor mans performance tire. the victor racer's are the only BAD *** kumho tire and they are more of a track ONLY tire

KDWs are little noisier than stock. They are a bigger tire so the stock size will be good. They grip really well, and if you want more grip go with KDs

get the KDW's...they make NO road noise at all. I loved mine. They are the best tire by far in the rain. KD's are a better tire for turning but i didn't see that much improvement over the straight line traction over the KDW. for a daily driver the KDW's are the way to go. I used to have 285's on the rear and 275's up front on my 17x9 ZR1's. The 285 fit just like the 275's.

I have KDWS and a TREMENDOUS improvement over stock RS/A!
No noise, no wandering, and better grip. Keep them stock and at 35 to 38 PSI and you will be taking off-ramps at 55! (Do get a STB, too!)

I also vote KDW. They seem to grip just about as well as my Nitto DRs did from low speed rolls, and they are waaaaaay better for handling. They are worlds beyond the stock F1s in every way; they look better, handle better, grip better, feel better, and I don't notice any extra noise above stock....

I would get the Goodyear Eagle GS-D3's in a 275.40.17. Compared to the KDW they are a much better tire in all catagories and they are about the sme price. THey hook better on dry pavement, in the rain. They corner great. I like the KDW's but in my opinion there is no question. The GS-D3's all the way.

KDW's on my LT1.. They are up to about 20k miles on them
and still have a good deal of tread left. They do make a
tad bit of noise, but in comparison to the sumitimos i had
they offer a smoother, quieter ride.. and they grip about
2x as well. This is a rough estimate but a turn I used to go
on with the Sumitimo up the road used to squeal pretty
hard and the car would feel unpredictable at only about
10 over the speed limit Now I can zip through there
with the KDW's a good 10mph faster I'd guess and
not being on the verge of breaking loose. They hook
decent, but my nittos hooked better.. and the bfgs I'm
running now hook worlds better.
Peace,
