Default Does the M/T ET Street slicks require inner tubes?

Does the M/T ET Street slicks (bias-ply) require inner tubes? If so I guess I'll be getting the Hoosier DOT Drag Radials...

Im not sure about the ET Streets but I have the ET Drags and without the tubes they go flat in less then a day so I figure the ET Streets would eb about the same. But if your car is auto like you sig says then drag radials might be better for it

You can run tubes in them, I never have. My ET streets would lose a little air, but not much. It just depends. It's really not a big deal to air them up. If you're putting ET Streets or ET Drags on it I'm assuming it's not a daily driver anyways. As the above poster said, you might be better off with a ET Street Radial if you're using an automatic.

Can you tell me how the ET Streets do on the street? I'm thinking about getting some but need to be able to drive them on the street in the 30 mile cruises.

Thanks.

I have the MT ET drag radials (without innertubes) and run about 18-20 psi throughout the city... they're on the last couple of 32nds and I still hook up on the street (and track) without any problems, and as far as i can tell i really haven't lost any air pressure.

Just know that with a DR and low air pressure, you're not going to be able to handle corners the same way you would with a stiffer street tire. But if you're anything like me, you love the way the car handles no matter what.

The MT site seems to suggest that you need to run tubes inside the ET streets.

http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...?item=ETStreet
"ET Street
Worlds Fastest D.O.T. Class Race Tire.
World's Fastest D.O.T. class race tire. Same great features as our race winning ET Drag with a D.O.T. stamp that meets the rulebook specifications for street tire classes. Tube type for extra sidewall strength, better air retention, and more consistent ET’s."

The chart on the page shows the recommended tube #, and the last tire listed shows that it's "tubeless". Hope that answers your question.

They recommend tubes, but you don't HAVE to run them. It's said that tubes make them more consistent and stable on the big end.....but I've never run any tubes in mine and they're fine. They don't lose any air either.

I have a 28x13.5 ET Street on my car, Love them. No tubes and drive it whenever I get the time. Never in the rain obviously but Iv drove many 30 mile plus one ways and were fine! Loose very little air, had about 12-15 passes at the track and a few on the street. Still got LOTS of tread. Cut 1.65 60ft first time with them out of a heavy *** 6 speed car...and getter better!!
