Default Tire suggestions for 18x10.5, DRY use only.

So I've decided to get a set of OE Wheels polished DD C5 wheels in 17/18 staggered set (possibly 18" fronts later, but not now), and get rid of my 10-spoke SS wheels after the beginning of the year. My car no longer sees rain, so I don't care about wet drivability, but it gets driven pretty much any day that there is no chance of rain, so it does still see quite a bit of daily use. I have about 400 rwhp, so tire spin in 1st/2nd is already a problem, so I want something with good grip but handles well in the turns for an occasional autox and fun in the turns. I have 3 year old (car sat for 2 years) Falken Azeni RT-615 now but want something with a little better grip, but will last about a year.

Any opinions on the NT-05's, or possibly running 555r's in the rear? I figure with the small sidewall that the 555r's might not be a bad rear option, could up the pressure for autox/street?

What tires would you guys suggest and in what size for the rear 18x10.5 wheels?

I would not use 555R's if autox is anywhere in your plan. They are a drag radial. The 555RII would be more approriate for that application.

How long do the 555r2's (or 555r's) typically last? How about grip with the NT05's?

I bought the same wheels.. just get 17's all around. 18" tires are crazy if you plan on buying a radial. and plan on actually driving you car.

Why would you say that?

Well as an example, NT-05's are $128 more for the PAIR of 295/35R18 vs 275/40R17 and 555RII's are $150 difference. So not quite $100 per tire. Plus I like the deeper dish of the 18's (2.5") vs the 17's (1").

So, other than the slight price difference for tires for 18", moving back to my original question about performance, what are some recommended dry tires for 18x10.5's?
