Default Won a set of tires, what size do I get??

So I won a set of 4 new BF Goodrich tires, and I want to get them in a size that will fit a set of new 18" wheels (right now I have stock 97 TA-red). Right now I have just been looking around at wheels so I do not have any specific ones in mind. Before I mount the new wheels and tires, I plan on buying SLP Bilstein struts and Strano springs, so that will be a factor.

What size tires should I order? I hope to not do too much fender rolling, if any at all. I know I want 18" wheels and I want to get them as wide as possible. I also have a buddy who got one size shorter width on his tires to fit on his 18" wheels so the sidewall had to flex out a little more than normal to fit around teh wheel for a more low profile look. Is this too stressful on the tire?

I just need to know what size tires so I can order them and plan for fitting the wheels later. Thanks in advance.

Im running 275/35R18 and 315/30R18 on my Camaro. You shouldnt have to do any fender mods that I know of with those sizes.

depends on what size wheels u get... what if u get tires and the wheels u want don't come in the size that fits the tires??
if u want 1 size all around, so u can rotate them, get 275/35x18's on a 18x9.5" rim
if u want a staggered look, get 245/40x18's on an 8.5" rim up front, and a 275 or 285/35x18 on the back, with a 9.5" rim, or a 285/35 or 295/35 on a 10" rim

Thanks for the responses.

I want to get HP Lightning wheels, 18" by 9", 5 x120 bolt pattern, with a 38mm offset, what is the best size tire to get visually and performance wise for my car?

will a 275/35/18 tire work? 97 pontiac TA with struts and lowering springs coming.

Thanks

yes that is EXTREMELY stressful for the tire, dangerous, and looks stupid. it's called hellaflush and it's one of the big ricer fads right now. going too big or too small on the tire is not advised!

Congrats on winning the tires! I would recommend the kdw-s NT(i think that's what they're called now)

Yes, a 275/35-18 would be perfect. That's the size I'm running on my front 18x9.5 wheels and I'm also lowered on Stranos.

I have KDW2's and they handle really well.

So an 18x9 wheel will fit well even though you guys are saying that an 18x9.5 wheel should be in a 275/35/18 tire?

not to start an argument, because i will never disagree it stresses the tire, but i think the oversize wheels look good in the smaller tires.

275/35 would be the widest for a 9" rim... u could do a 265/40, but it would be about 26.3" tall, about .6" taller than stock... or a 265/35, which would be .4" shorter, which might work if u lower it...

Alright that is good to know, but i decided that widest tire is not always best, i just want the best all around tire size for an 18x9 wheel, the best tire size in performance and the low profile look.

Well I'm looking from this at a completely different angle:

Get 4 of the tires that you will be able to resell the easiest at the highest price. Then take the cash and spend it on what you wish. That's what I would do.

Great example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-NEW...item45f73e52bd

Not a stupid question.

It's running tires too small for the wheels. Then giving them some ridiculous camber.

i have considered this, but they only give me $650 worth of tires. But I am leaning towards the KDWs. I dont want hellaflush, I was just curious about it. But I think that stress looks better than bulge on a tire.

Why do people waste money renting fender rollers when you can do what that guy did and just use a flathead?!
