Default need some track wheel selection input

here's the deal: i shot myself in the foot by having my stock calipers powdercoated. they look badass, but there's no way i'm grinding them. i don't really want to spend the money on drag brakes, and i need wheels for the track. 18" iForged wheels just don't cut it for putting down big power.

Obviously Bogarts work, as do billet specialties F-car specific wheels. My problem is i want something different, or less used. the car is a SOM SS with a VFN 3" SS hood. i need a wheel that looks killer on that setup, but i want them to be as light as possible since they will be track-only.

Is there any way to make a Magnum or Aluma Star work over stock brakes, will Weld make custom offsets/backspacings, or do i just need to start focusing on Bogarts? The BS Street Lites are way too over done for my taste, they're great wheels, great looking, but pretty much out of the question. i've always thought the Magnums with their gold finish would look sweet on a SOM car, i even thought about getting the centers of a set of bolted Bogarts anodized gold if i got them. The new Aluma Star 2.0 (and Magnum 2.0) look sweet, but i don't know how the black would look on my car....i didn't like the black TT2's i had.

Anybody got any ideas or suggestions? i'm kind of at a loss right now, not sure which direction to go. Here's a shot of the car to give you an idea of what i'm working with:

THESE look good, i hadn't heard of those. Are they light? i'm looking for a really lightweight wheel here. i'm not going to split hairs over a 1/2#, but if those wheels are 2 or 3 lbs. heavier than bogarts, i probably will pass.

I'll do a little research, anybody else have some ideas or suggestions, feel free to chime in.

I'm not sure about the v-series. I think the weight of the RTS for a 10" wheel is like 16lbs and for the fronts 15x4 its 10lbs? I'm sure if you call them up they can tell you for sure. How much do the Bogarts weigh?

Why not sell the powder'd calipers, buy some stock ones, then grind away.

As for wheels, I've always liked these. Only seen them on a couple cars:

No need to change brakes or grind anymore. Weld has their **** together with the new RTS wheels. They're cheap, light (10.0lb fronts, 15.1lb rears), fit over LS1 brakes, come in black or polished, what's not to love? I vote for them.

Thanks. I've thought about doing the Alumastar setup on the Cobra too, but I don't know that I want to give up the CCWs to do so. Wish I could afford both.

are drag brakes the only way to get away with aluma stars/magnums?

i've looked into the weld RT series wheels, same line that mightymouse's wheels are from but a different design. i think they'd look good and don't require grinding, only problem is the $1600+ price tag, but then again i knew what i was getting into building this car

Yes, that or LT1 brakes. I ran 17" Alumastars on my Camaro, and 15" RT wheels in the rear, so I had no brake issues front or rear. The RT and RTS wheels are both great choices. The RT wheel is a three piece bolted together design, and come in several different styles, and the RTS is a three piece welded "Weldstar design" wheel that is SFI certed and also streetable, and a little more affordable.
