Default Racestars or Weld RT-S

Yes it's been asked a thousand, or more times... Lots have bought the racestars and love them, lots bash them for not being USA made. Question is: has anyone had issues with them? I am looking for a street driven/drag setup. Car sees little street duty, but does see some. The offset of the weld 15x4 front, leaves 2.5 out (1.5 backspace). Racestars 15x3.75 front leaves 2.25 out. Don't like the fronts to stick out. Rears will be fine either way... Are the Welds worth te extra money? They look good/better, but about $400 more isn't enough to sway me to the cheaper, if their strength is comparable.

I have the racestars on my z. My sig pic looks like crap b/c its a cell phone pic but I like them. 15x10's with a 7.5bs and the fronts are 15x4's. Not sure on the bs on them. They cleared my brakes all the way around. The only thing I found is its hard to balance the front ones. I still have a little vibration in the steering wheel but I'm happy with them

Find out your hub bore size on rim, hub size on front hub and then get some hub rings from discount tire

Maybe if someone could post a pic from standing in front of the headlight down the side of the car to get a good angle on the placement of the front wheel in relationship to the fender... Both wheels if possible... RS and Welds...

I have owned and used both on my Camaro, and will never own another set of Racestar/GW wheels again. I HATE the oval shaped multi bolt pattern lug hole they use, the idea of centering the wheel on the hub with using the washer just doesn't sit safe with me. I had a hell of a time getting the wheels on and off, and know others who have too. Then others said theirs have gone on fine. Either way, that was enough for me. Never really been a fan of the looks of them either. Looking straight on they're fine, but the spokes kind of move inward, from the center out and it looks goofy IMO. The 1.5" backspace of the RTS wheels doesn't stick out too far for my taste. I love the new Welds.

Here's a picture looking down with the 1.5" backspace on a 2000 Trans Am. They sat just under the lip of the fender.

Camaro396, pic fail mang.
As for my input, I have the Racestars and I like them. See lots of street duty with no issues whatsoever. If I would have had the cash, I woulda bought something else, but the deal I got on mine I couldn't pass up.

I spoke with a business who deals in both wheels. The fit and finish of the rts is hands down the better. Tru fit not multiple fit. However I found them for $1016 with lugs, valve stems and shipped.

Kinda partial to RTS's....For the price though- the Racestars are hard to beat though. If they had the GW's in a 4.5 BS - I may have bought those instead.

I just got race star wheels an they are amazing except for one thing had to grind the ribs off the calipers because with 7.5 back spacing they rubber on the driver side only... weird kidna... lol They are nice though an to spice things up looks wise i'm gonna do something else, but i wont tell this forum anything until i do it so i'm the first one to lay down the idea...

Personally I love the looks of the Weld RT-S and I love the price of the Racestars. If you can get the Welds to work with your budget I'd go with that. Also, don't trip about if the wheels are made in the US or overseas. With the way things are going it's getting too expensive to produce anything here anymore.

Love my RTS, quality is awesome, fit and finish great, a true Forged wheel as well.
They black look really sweet, they are very easy to keep clean and polish out of the box was better than my 4K set of 3 pieces on my GT500

Here's a few shots of my Greg Welds/Racestars...15x4s and 15x10s, rear tires are M/T 325 50 R15 DRs...fronts are generic 165 R15s...I love the fit and I think that the fronts tuck in pretty nicely...I do lots of street driving and have had em on for almost 2 years with no probs...For the money they are hard to beat.
