Default Tire and wheel sizing question for 1971 chevelle

Wondering if anyone knows how wide I can go on my 1971 chevelle. Looking to put a 18x10 wheel, also wanting to know what offset would be needed for wheels to stay flush with car. Can a 295 or 315 fit?

check out Team Chevelle site. Good info, and likely find exactly what you need.

We put a 15x10 with 5 inches of backspacing on a buddies 70 Chevelle with a 325/50/15 drag radial, was very tight. The new 295/55/15 drag radial will fit very good. Look up the dimensions of those tires and it will help you.

Check the link out at the bottom. My car has 18x10's, 5.5 backspacing, with 285/40 KDW2's and has plenty of room. You could easily go wider than that with some careful measuring. It is definitely worth it. Not cheap but worth it.

Pictures of '71 Chevelle SS....brings back fond memories of my first brand new car...Too bad they didn't make multi-piece wheels back then. The aftermarket wheels back then were all pretty much the same, as far as backspacing, and an 8.5" rim had 3.75" of backspace. It meant either air shocks or a 7" rim.....
