Default Got ABS INOP light 2 days after getting rear tires...related?

Hey guys

I got 2 new rear tires put on last weekend and now the ABS light is always on.

Is this related? or If not how do I fix it?

Thanks

If you changed the size of your tires then yes thats what caused it. On my old Camaro I upgraded the stock 16s to 17&18 C5 Z06 wheels. With different diameter tires on it caused the ABOS and Brake Light to always be on. Had to tune it for different sizes for it to go away.

D'oh!

I went with a slimmer tire for the winter. Does it do any harm if I don't get it tuned for this tire size. Would it confuse the computer and make the car act inappropriately?

I dont think it does any harm, Im not really sure. I did drive with it for probably a year before the car was tuned though. The only thing I could think of is it might screw with the ABS if you were to slam on the brakes but I honestly wouldnt worry, I was fine with it for awhile.

Yeah it does throw the low traction light here and there on turns.

Thanks for your help.

Yeah be careful, it can mess with your brakes. I used to have this problem when I was running a "28 tire on my trans am. Just pull the ABS fuse so the brakes will respond normally. Be aware of course that you will not have ABS but you don't have ABS when the light is on anyways.

Did it go away after the car was off the dyno? The front wheel speed sensors will read 0mph on a dyno while the rear tires will show 130mph, causing the ABS to get confused and not know what to do.

As far as your ABS light being on, mine's been that way for years due to taller rear tires, and has not had any negative effect on my car.
