Default cornering with drag radials

how do drag radials handle on corners? I want to hook but also push the corners, any thoughts?

sidewalls too soft on drag radials, you push a corner youll find yourself pushing the wall. get a street tire for the street and a track tire for the track. anything less is a compromise

sorry to be rude, but thats why they are called "drag" radials, not "cornering" radails.. stick with a good name street tire that will be for handling. taller sidewall=sidewall flex, which can be catastrophic and you will not get desired results.

I run DRs year around and they handle alright in the corners. Guess it depends on waht you're using them for. For typical daily driving DRs are fine IMO, but if you're gonna be aggressively cornering often, might wanna look elsewhere.

I've used 315/35-17 DR's for at least 8 years now(nitto's BFG's and M/T's)...I found they corner well....definately 'stick'. I am now running a 295/55-15, now they definately 'roll' in the curves. So in my opinion- 17's very little negative corning effect, 15's definate difference.

But I still the the "you push a corner youll find yourself pushing the wall." statement is a little over the top.

I have the NT-555R's in 275/40/17. The go through corners pretty well. On exit they tend to wobble a little. Pretty much when you are trying to apply power and still corner, you are asking too much of the sidewall. Nothing that feels dangerous, just not as settled as could be.

How about a 555rII instead? Same compound but stiffer sidewalls for cornering?

Yea I was going to say. That's what the 555R II's are for. Same compound with stiffer sidewall I believe.

IMO, the Nt05 is an excellent option for handling and off the line traction.

The amount of sidewall you have on it will greatly effect it.

If you're running a 16" drag radial you'll lose a lot more handling than running an 18" drag radial.

Which you choose will also greatly effect it.

Hoosiers and Mickey's will lose more in the corners than a nitto 555R.

The NT01 is the replacement R Compound Road Race Tire for the NT555RII.
