Default 275s on an 18x8.5

275s on an 18x8.5... Go or no go?? I have seen several guys on here with them so im assuming it's possible but the sticky doesn't recomend it! What do you think? I can also go with the 265s, they make them to match my 315 rears.

What kind of wheels are you putting them on? What kind of tires are they? Reason I ask is some tires run a little smaller than others. I know Nitto tires run a little on the small side compared to other tires of the same size. I would say you could just off the top of my head but if you got one of the tires that run a little on the larger side, you may have the "sunk-in" effect compared to the "stretched" effect that a lot of the import guys are going for to get the "Hella-Flush" look. And to the others, I wasn't trying to start a war about the "Hella-Flush" look, I was just using it as a reference.

I had Michelin 275's on 8.5 c6z06 motorsport wheels and they were fine. It's one of those things where you can do it, but it's not recommended.

Thanks for the info. The wheels are OEWheels 18x8.5 & 18x10.5 DD C6ZO6s. The rear tires i am going with are the Falken Azenis 315/30s. For the front I'm thinking the Azenis', they make a 275 & 265 in a 35 series, so I'll probably go that route. If they made a 255/35 I would definitely take that, but they only offer the 255 in a 40 series. I think the 40 would be to tall compared to the 30 in the rear.

Sidewall height is a function of width.

315/30/18 is 25.44 tall
275/35/18 is 25.58 tall
265/35/18 is 25.30 tall

The 265/315 combo would probably work really well.

Little bit late but i had 275 mt et street radials on my 8.5wide y2ks and it fits and looks pretty good but it wasnt using the full tread. When placed up next to my 255 fronts the wear on the rears was the same width as the fronts. food for thought.
