Will it see rain and snow? If not then get Khumo Ecsta ASTs. I just got Falken Ziex 512s but have not had them in the rain or snow yet, also quite cheap.

I had Potenza 750's and they were great. Long lasting with great handling characteristics. I heard the new 760's aren't as great but the new Firestone Wide Oval's are the old 750's rebranded.

Recently, my Trans Am friend reccommended Continental DW's which are cheap. So hard to decide

Considering that the rubber is the only thing keeping your car connected to the road is cheap and descent mutually attainable?

I run Nitto 555's on my 17's. They don't break the bank in the 285/40-17's I run. You also didn't state what size you were looking for. I buy mine from discount tire direct.

What weather conditions will the tires see? This is very important. I assume that you don't have to deal with snow since you're in Alabama (lucky bastard!) but rain could be a concern if it's your DD.
FWIW cheap and decent are not mutually exclusive when it comes to tires; you don't have to drop a lot of cash to get tires that don't suck.
