Default Backspace for 3" shortened each side rear 15x8?

Sorry to bother you all, but wondered what is the proper backspace for a 15x8 rim. 98 formula, and looking at shortening it 3 inches each side for the street rims. I have a set of 15x8 jegstars that have a 4.5 bs, and when I put them on, they stuck way out on stock rear end. I am wondering if they will work, or do I need a 3.5 bs? It will have strange brakes instead of Aerospace brakes as got a better deal on them, so also hope they will clear with those brakes. Any help is appreciated!

Anyone? Is a 3.5 backspace better than the 4.5 since its shortened 3 inches on each side?

sitting factory if you narrow 3" per side you will need around a 2.5 bs. (5.5 bs on a stock axle for 8" whide or 5 even tucked in more) so take off 3...

i measured my stock rims which have 7.5 inches between the back area where it bolts to the rotors, and my rims, which have 4.5 inches (hence the 4.5 bs). The difference would be exactly 3 inches from where the lip resides on the Jegstars, and where the lip is on the stock rims. If you subtract 3 inches from the rearend each side, thus adding three to the 4.5 bs, that would give me 7.5 bs, no? The only thing I can think of is that it would sit way in recessed in the wheel well, since the rims sit pretty flush and the ws6s are 17x9. I am guessing it will be comparable to running a 16x8 rim. I can only find a weld prostar with a 3.5 bs, which if I am right, should fit nicely in there- cannot find a 2.5 bs. When I bolted the 4.5s that I have on there, they stuck way out (stock length), and that is with the rear calipers removed. thanks for the help.

5 inches will push it out not tuck it in more

15X8 with 5.5 of backspace is for stock. So if you are narrowed 3 inches off each side you will need 15X8 with 2.5 backspace which I doubt they even make.

Would be better off running a 15X10 with 4.5 backspace.

15X10 with 7.5 backspace for stock
15X10 with 4.5 backspace for narrowed 3 inches per side.
