Default Mickey Thompsons or Hoosiers?

Who's using those DR's and who's hooking? also what sizes are you running?

I'm looking for some new dr's but i'm not sure which one i should choose. I always here good things about M/T's and i've also read good things about the Hoosiers. With my new cam (possibly new heads, not for sure) and my mods listed in my sig, i'll be laying down 550+ rwp on the spray. I was thinking about going with a 255/50/16 Hoosier on my stock camaro wheels....i'm just worried that won't be big enough to plant the power at the track. I'd like to run a 15x10 with 275/50's but i don't want to buy another set of wheels. I used to run 26x11.5 ET Streets on my 16" camaro wheels and i was cutting 1.6's. Any opinions?

Default 28" Slicks would work best with 550 H.P.

Im running 15x10 Weld RT-S Racing wheels on my Z28 with a 275x60x15 MT Drag Radial. Im at 350 H.P. now with a Midwest Chassis Fab 9 rearend.

If you go with the 15" wheels you will have to grind down your calipers alot.
The hot set-up is a 15x10 wheel with a 5.5 backspace for the deep dish wheel look. If you want this set up you will need to narrow your rearend 2" per side for a total of 4" narrowed.

Common sense would tell me you would need a 28" Slick to hook up that kind of power if your truely at 550 H.P. Along with a 9" rear end.

I vote for the Mickey Thompsons but I run them so that makes me biased. However, I want to try the Hoosiers because I hear they are lighter than the Mickey Thompson Drag Radial. I currently run the 295/55/15 M/T on a 15x10 and cut mid 1.4's and with my new converter I'm hoping to dip into the 1.3's. I wouldn't hesitate putting a 275 on the car but I'd be a little hesitant towards the 255. I'd consider the 255's a waste at your power level especially if you plan on spraying out of the hole.

When i ran the 26x11.5 ET Streets on my 16" snowflakes, i was spraying it out of the hole cutting 1.6's. I'd like to think the 255's will hook, but i guess thats because i don't want to buy a pair of 15" wheels lol....i'm a tight ***. Maybe i'll just say **** it and buy a pair of Racestars and mount some 275/50 Hoosiers on them since i really want to try the Hoosiers.

The Hoosiers also have a softer sidewall than the m/t dr's, correct?

Hoosiers 275/60 15. ^Yes i believe I read that they are built with fewer belts to allow them to wrinkle more.

I had both Mickey ET Street 275/50/15's and identical sized Hoosier drag radials, and also Hoosier Quick time pro's. The Mickeys and the Hoosier Drag radial
s hooked equally and i did high 1.4's. but the Hoosiers lasted ALOT longer, and the Quick Time Pro's just sucked for me.

I've been thinking about running a 28" tire but i'm lowered about 1.5" with BMR springs. I've had a 28" on there before and it rubbed quite a bit at WOT. I haven't had any issues with a 26" M/T spraying 150 out of the hole.

I have ran both but like the Hoosiers a little better.

First pick is on the street tires 315/35/17 1.46 sixty ft.

Second pic is on 275/60/15 1.42 sixty ft.

Sooo after seeing the first picture, its pretty obvious the Hoosiers hook! I've never seen anyone lift the wheels like that on a 315/35/17 DR, wow.

Yes they work, I was running M/T on my track rims so decided to try the Hoosiers for the street setup. I was so impressed I run them for both now.

It might be iffy on the 150 hit unless the track prep was really good and you have your suspension dialed in.

Pretty sure there are fbody specific 15" wheels that are made to fit with no grinding.
