Default NT05R or NT555R on 9.5" rim

I am going to run a 315 dr on the rear of my 1997 ta with 9.5" wide wheels; either the NT05R or the NT555R, just wondering what tire would work the best. What kind of millage can I expect to get out of them with out burning the crap out of them too much. I know the NT555R will fit but I can get the NT05R for not much more; just wondering if one is better than the other for a DD car.

From what I heard, and you can see my thread from earlier today is that the 555Rs will fit (as they run really narrow compared to other 315s)...but that's not the case for the newer NT05s as those run close to if not more than the advertised tread width.

So no way you can fit the regular running 315 NT05s, but you can run the narrower running 315 555Rs. I'm going to be putting those on a pair of 9.5" shortly.

So it looks like the 555r will be the way to go. Will these get better traction then say any 285 dr out.

First of all, a 315 is larger than what is recommended to go on a 9.5'' rim. I would think twice before I went with a 315 on that rim. I know there are guys that do it, but just because it will fit, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Second, for a daily driver I would go with the 555r's. It has longer tread life and better performance under wet conditions. The 05r leans more towards dry performance and stickiness aka: less tread life. Having said this, the 555r's should hook for you nicely, unless you are pushing 400+ or have a fairly high stall 3600+

No.
Tire stickiness is more than just tread width, it is also tire height. If you have a tall sidewall, then your tire will be pliable and "grab" the road better. If you have a short sidewall (for example 18'' rims and larger) then your tires will be stiffer and will be more prone to spinning rather than gripping. (watch drag race starts in slow-mo to see what I mean)
