Tire and rim size for 05' goat
I need to know how wide I can go in the back. The stock 17x8's are not doing the job. I spin in 1st, 2nd, and a little in 3rd.

Well if you want to keep the stock wheels, the most you can go to safely and effectively is a 255-265.
If you're willing to get some wider wheels, with the right offset and some rolled fenders you can tuck in some 285s or 295s depending on tire brand.
Though if I were you I'd worry more about the tire compound than tire width. A good summer/drag radial tire will make a bigger difference in traction than a slightly wider tire.
What mods do you have on the car, seems odd that you would be spinning even 2nd gear unless you got quite a bit of power.

my setup last year was a mickey thompson 275/40/r17. fits the stock wheels with no problems. this year ill be stepping up to a set of 15 inch drag wheels 10 inches wide in the rear and 3.5 inches wide up ront. i think i will be running hoosier tires this time.
times in my sig are with the stock wheels and mickeys
