Default Winter wheels pics

I've debating what to run in the winter for months now and finally went with this as I ran out of time, haha. I bought these stock rims wrapped in 245 50 hankooks a year ago for 100 bucks. Found 2 nexen 225 55 16 snows at wal mart on sale for 60 bucks each. Rattle canned the rims at work( in a bodyshop) with rustoleum double coverage gloss black paint, and also a can of clear. Cost was under 15 bucks for the 2 cans. I think it looks ok for a winter setup and the price was right. When I was looking for ideas on what others were running on their f body, my search came up with very little. Maybe no one drives their car in the snow? I really didn't want to use the stock rims, but I don't think they look too bad in black. Has that winter look anyway, and I wanted it to be obvious that the wheels were changed for snow purposes and not because I had lost my mind, haha.

Well it started snowing last night, and at midnight I decided to take the car out for a spin and test it out. Went down to the automall where it was bright to snap some pics. If anyone else wants to contribute pics of their setup on a f body, by all means do.

That looks great! If I lived somewhere that regularly got snow then I would do exactly what you did. How well do those tires do in the white stuff?

Thanks man. The tires performed pretty good. No problem going up hills and the area I'm in is defenitely not flat by any means. I do have 2 other snow tires from before and I may end up putting them on the frt. Maybe I will update this later when I experience more challenging conditions.

That actually looks pretty good! I think since your car has a good stance it helps, A LOT.

That car looks clean as ****. I wouldn't let it see a flake of snow if it were mine. Rims look REALLY good though for painted stockers.

Yeah, I hear ya, car is clean, 68 thousand orig miles and orig paint. Winters aren't too bad hear out west. Snow's already been washed away by the pissing rain, haha. I lived in the north east for a bit, and those winters were a car enthusiast's nightmare.

I would really recommend putting that other set of snows you have on the front. Without them, your missing out on 2/3 of the reasons for having snows, stopping and turning. Just sayin, its great that you can get moving with them on the rear, but if you cant stop or turn to avoid the guy who cant make it through the intersection or is pulling out of a parking lot thinking he could make it before you got there..... Especially if you want to continue to have original paint Nice looking car though, even with blacked out 16's and snow shoes.

Thanks guys, and I agree with you Grim, good sound advice. It's no fun if you hit the brakes going downhill and go barrelling right through that red light.

Looks really good for snow tires.

I personally keep my Camaro garaged during the winter (that's what my Jeep is for ), but understand if it's your only car and ya' need to drive it.

^ Hey, those look familiar. Are they black or charcoal grey? Lucky you, not having to need them. I can't afford to have a second vehicle. Where I live, it's 700 friggin grand just to buy a 40 yr old starter home. So, housing cost alone suck the wallet dry pretty good, haha.

Lol. They are charcoal. I was going to polish them and spray em with that dupli color shadow stuff to resemble black chrome but these wheels were silver and the face was to textured for me to spend the time to sand them smooth polish them. Not for a winter wheels anyway.

How are things out in BC? I heard you got a big dumping of snow! That car looks clean as hell, and I'd even go as far as saying those wheels look good!

I ended up buying steelies for the winter on the DD:

Don't DD the car anymore , but doesn't have sheltered life.

I'm going to replace the nice wheels with 16" firebird alloys with 225/55/16s the car came with.

Going with OP's approach , I don't wana look like I ride on these fugly things by choice.
I plan on cleaning them up thoroughly and use Plastidip. What Is Plastidip?

Yes, we did get a pretty good dump(of snow), but its all gone now, which is typical out here. Is that all the snow you got so far? That's not how I remember it. I froze my fuckn ***** off in Barrie for two winters and decided that was enough. So me and the 69 GTO headed back home when things started to thaw a little bit.
I'm likin your steelies, they got more dish than my stockers. My rims are convex, so thats why I didn't post pics from a sharp angle like you, haha. Thanks for the comments man.
