Default Question about offset when widening?

I have a chance to pick up a really cheap and light pair of BMW wheels that I plan on using as spares for my drag tires when at the strip.

They are 17x7.5 with +42mm offset. I was thinking of getting these out to weldcraft and adding something like 2" to the inside of the wheel.

What would the final offset be after this? My little knowledge about wheels and such tell me that you basically just add that difference to the current offset, so 42 + 50 (about 2") = +92mm offset...but that doesn't seem right.

Am I doing this right? Does anyone else have recommendations on places that widen wheels?

Thanks
