Default Michelin Sport A/S Plus

Time for tires!
Anybody running Mich. Sport A/S Plus?
Please give me recomendations on other tires that should be considered.
Also, just recieved 17x9.5 wheels, I was going to order 275/40-17's, but I just saw a thread about rubbing issues up front with this size tire!
My 2000 Z28 is all factory suspension, will this size tire have clearance/rubbing issues?
I plan to purchase tires first thing next week so any advice and or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy

This tire is amazing...... Exspensive but amazing.

Have them on all my vehicles except my TA. Only because I burn them off to often....

Has to be the Plus (you get a mileage warranty) and if you dont get the mileage .... New tire... Michelin is so pro customer.

I have the same size on my TA and no issues.

What about the issue of rubbing the front fender wells? I saw a few comments on the site where 275/40-17 on 17x9.5 wheels rubbed.

These tires don't hook for ****. I've had a few different sets of tires on my car and these were the only ones that would not hook at the dragstrip.

Michelin Pilot Sport AS is a great street tire. They wear very well. Certainly no all season tire is going to cut it on the dragstrip.

I was able to dead hook with Kumho all seasons, 245/50R16s. I'm not making that much power. Same car with the Michelins on it, same size, would spin all day long.

But they do indeed wear very well and I would have no problem daily driving them, as long as I had another set of rear tires for the strip.

I have Bridgestone RE970AS tires and they have great dry & wet traction plus they are smooth & quiet on the highway. They cost less than the Pilot Sport Plus tires and have a 40k mile warranty.

I can not address the rubbing issue but the Michelin tire you want is outstanding! I had a set on my '95 911 for about 3 years (staggered set-up) and absolutely no complaints with anything. Excellent in the wet and cornering. There was still plenty of tread left (after about 10,000 miles of assorted driving styles) when I sold the car a few months ago.

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS is just as good as the Pilot Sport AS and MUCH cheaper. Read the surveys, reviews and tests on Tirerack.

I know quite few guys that put ExtremeContact DWS on their G8 and they wore out quickly. And they are not as good as the Pilot Sports regardless of what the Tire Rack reviews indicate, and they aren't as good as my Bridgestones either.

Oh and another thing, the ExtremeContact DWS doesn't handle as well in the corners as the Pilot Sports or the Bridgestone Potenza's since the sidewalls are softer.

Yes, soft sidewalls are quite the issue with those tires and the main reason I have never bought them.

I sell Michelin tires, and the only problem I have with these tires is they actually start to peel apart after like 10,000 miles. Michelin sent us a letter saying they are ok still, but it still freaks me out a little
