Bought new car, need advice on tires. I just picked up this new to me 2001 Camaro SS. It only had 19k on it and is in almost mint condition. The owner had all the extras put on it and apparently also put on these rims.
As best I can tell from just measuring them they are American Racing "Torq Thrust" or something similar in a 17" x 11" or 10.5" width. The tires I believe are the original ones, they are from 2002, I know that much.
Question: Arent these tires a little small for the larger width rim? Weren't the stock rims narrower? What size should

If the tires are from 2002, they are 10 year old tires. Be careful. I would look into new ones and save those to car shows 30 years from now! LOL! Seriously, rubber degrades with time and blow out can occur.

Yes they are old and degraded and I am doing this right away for that reason. I am not even driving it in the mean time. Yes it is the stock 275 40 17s on the TT2 11" rims from what I can tell.
Thanks I pretty much got my answer then. The sticky also mentioned these rims but one thing is not clear.
Is there a chance that by going to the 315s I will be getting rub where these 275s did not??

Thanks for all the help guys. One more question. I live in MT so we can definitely have cold days and a lot of time where this car wont even be driven. I don't have a heated garage though. The NT555R and 555RII's have a warning about cold weather and temps causing damage to them. The regular 555's dont have that warning. Are they a different compound which is more cold tolerant?
