Default C5 Magnesium wheels on Trans AM

Looks like I have an opportunity to buy a set of magnesium wheels off a 1998 Corvette, for a really good price.

As I understand they are 5x4.75 and will fit my Trans no problem. The fronts are 17x8.5 and the rears are 18x9.5.

I really like the staggered look, which I understand isnt for everyone.

I don't know much about these wheels, and wanted to get some opinions.

The wheels I am looking at are the "champagne" finish which I think would look awesome with the colour of my Trans.

Thoughts??

Are you sure they are magnesium? The '03 anniversary vettes came with just painted (champagne colored) aluminum wheels. Make sure it wasn't a set of those.

As far as the color goes, green/gold together has never really done it for me. It seems like a hardcore 90's color combo to me.

I just spoke with the Seller, and he says that they are "wide spoke" which to my understanding did not come in magnesium...

He said he would send me a pic in the next day or two. I definitely don't want them if they are the wagon wheel style stock aluminum wheels...

I had a set of magnesium wheels. They are really cool but you have to carefully mount the tires cause the paint coating or whatever will chip around the lip.

Here is what they should look like.

The Seller sent me this picture (below)...

Pretty sure he is blowing smoke... As far as I know these are NOT magnesium.

Anyone know if they made this pattern in magnesium?? Im like 99% sure that they did not.

Thanls.

Those are base 97-99 C5 "wagon wheels"...it is to the C5 what the saw blades were to the C4's...aka...the worst looking wheel available. They usually go for a couple hundred bucks a set.

Now that I say all that, I do believe that magnesium wheels were offered as a premium option on most year of C5's, however, I don't think that style ever came in magnesium.

The only magnesium wheels from a corvette are the 5 spoke design ones I posted a pic of. This guy has no idea what he is taking about. Don't buy those boring *** wheels. Now I have seen some pics where magnesium wheels are a polished silver and not gold but both have the same design. Those are wagon wheels like stated above.

Thats what I thought.
I will definately not buy them, theyre pretty basic... was really hoping for a real set of magnesium wheels, like the ones pictured above...

Guess I'll have to keep looking.

They are kinda hard to find. They were only in production for a few years and cost like $2K back then. When I found mine I got them super cheap so I just turned around and resold them. Kinda wish I kept them cause no one has them on a fbody or vette where I'm from.
