i have 275/40/17 and love the look, but you can actually run 285/40/17 safely

275/40/17 is what I run on my 17x9s. They should fit nice on 17x9.5s as well. I have Sumitomo HTRZ summers on the back and Hankook Ventus all seasons on the front.

I have 275/40/17 on my 17x9.5 wheels and have thought of stepping the back ones up to 285/40/17 when I get/need new tires but that's just me. Right now, I have Nitto NT555 all the way around and love them.

Reading about people saying they love their Sumitomo tires is EXTREMELY rare.

Yea, I have 'em on the rear, but I certainly don't love them. They are loud as ****. But they're soft and cheap, so they work well for rear tires with my driving style.
