Exclamation AM I CRAZY? Wheel and Tire help!!!

Okay I want to run 19"s mesh wheels (MRR GT1s) (RPM 505s)

Now I know the wheels fit with hubcentric rings thats not my problem

Every time I look for a wheel and tire packages. The tires are always a 35 aspect ratio in the front and 30 in the rear..and that seems rather thin for a sidewall...Am I crazy to want to run a 245/40/19 Front and 275/35/19 Rear on 19X8.5 Front and 19X9.5 Rear?

I'll probably go with MRR GT1s on my 98 Red Camaro Z28

Thanks.

Also I used 1010tires.com tire calculator to find tires that are within the 3% tolerance of size that doesn't risk brake failure and they are really close to same speed front and rear... for example I think the 275/35/19s are only .526% faster than the 245/40/19 so at 60mph you're really going 60.3mph. Also the sidewalls are very similar in thickness. Fronts are 3.85" and Rears 3.78"

The 2nd number isnt the height in mm, its the % of the width. Therefor, wider rears need a numerically lower aspect ratio

U should run 19x9.5 on all four corners; the 19x8.5 arent goin to have enough lip (1.5 - 2'') And u should b good with 275/35/19 or 275/30/19, wouldnt do anything bigger than 35 on a 19. Loved to see ur car sitting on those mrr-gt1s, keep us posted .

I know its not the height in mms. Hmm I guess a 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 don't have a sidewall much thinner than the 245/40/19s and 275/35/19s.

245/35/19 sidewall height - 3.37inches
245/40/19 sidewall height - 3.87inches

275/30/19 sidewall height - 3.24inches
275/35/19 sidewall height - 3.78inches

What I'm saying is that I'll lose about a half inch on the sidewall height.

I guess I'm really asking if I'll have rubbing problems with 245/40/19 and 275/35/19?

Also the a 245 tire fits 8-9.5 wheel.

Thanks for the help.

I guess I'll go with 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 since that's what you guys recommend and the tire packages. I'm trying to keep this package on the cheap side so my tire choices are
Achilles ATR Sports -$1,694
Nexen N3000- $1,906
Falken Fk-452- $2,032
Nitto NT555- $2,128
Michelin PS2- $2,852

I can also order the wheels and tires separately. this is from wheelstudio.com

I want the best combination of handling and wear.

If you want best combination of handling and wear don't get 19s(too tall, less tire selection available), and certainly don't go narrower than 275s in the front (these need as much tire in the front as possible, 245 is way too narrow).

Thank you everyone for your input.

I've decided to go with American Racing Torq Thrust Black with Machined Lip

17X9 Fronts
17X10.5 Rears
BFGOODRICH G-Force KDW2 275/40/17 all the way around.

It looks good with my Red Z and it's a decent price $1,424 mounted and balanced before shipping from tirerack.com

275s are going to look goofy on a 10.5" wheel, got with 315/35/17 on them. Also Id look at either Nitto NT05's(great handling summer tire) or Nitto Nt555s (more street tire, still good for handling) for tires.

First off, pick a wheel and stick with it. Secondly Ive never understood why people bash Asian tires, but its your choice so do as you please. With a 9.5 I would do 285/35/18s

If you go that route, stick with 40mm offset all around

BTW, wheels in my sig are for sale... for like a third of what you're looking to spend
