what tall tire should i run at the track

Default what tall tire should i run at the track

I have a 26'' tall tire that I run at the track but a friend telling me I should be running a 28'' tall ... Mods are on my sig.. Tell me what you guys think..

Are you spinning, bogging, what gear and rpm you going through lights?

1/4 mile track went tru 6,000 rpm's in 4th gear.. oh and no bogging or spinning

If your not spinning, and crossing the traps at 6000 rpms I definitely dont think a 28inch tire is going to do anything to help you. What was his reason for wanting you to swap to a 28?

He's wrong. It's that simple. The only way to improve on that combo given your power band would be a slightly shorter tire (which wouldn't make much sense given the stiffer sidewall and therefore loss of traction) or a slightly steeper gear like a 4.20. Regardless, you couldn't improve your time enough to justify the trouble. You would likely gain more by draining your coolant reservoir and windshield washer tank before you run her. Really. Have you ported your stock throttle body yet? That would probably do just as much.

If your not having traction issues and your crossing the traps at 6,000 rpm a 28inch tire isnt going to do anything to help you go faster unless other things are changed as well.
