Default Anyone tell me the difference between these two, Performance wise.

I have a set of Nittos 555r's that no matter what PSI i put them on, I can never hook at the Track. On the street, they are exactly what I'd expect from a DR.
I have the opportunity to buy some Mickey Thompson 275/45r/17 tires and slap those on the rear on different rims and use them only at the track. I would buy something different, but cant beat these new tires for $200 bucks for the Pair.

My question is... Is Mickey thompson an all around better Tire than the Nitto 555r?

yes they are a way better tire, but you sacrifice streetability, especially in the rain. For 200$ you better know what you are looking for, How old are they? how much tread? If they are brand new, good deal.

Save up and buy new tires in my opinion if they are used.
nt05r's are good
toyo proxes
mt et srteet and et street ii's are excellent aswell

Nice review!... The car is not my daily, I have a company vehicle so my vehicles only move on the weekend, and the Trans Am is mainly for the occasional fun on the weekend/Track.

I think this is good enough to make my decision, thank you!
I'll be making the deal hopefully today after work.

Let me make this easy for you...
On Nitto's our best 60 ft. was 1.91, with most falling around 2.0
On ET Streets our best 60 ft. was 1.55 with most falling around 1.60

You can do the math I bet Good motoring!

Did you just call a guy babycakes? Lol mickey Thompson's are the better tire for the track. If you want a tire that's better than street tires and can drive in the rain do nittos. But mt are the superior tire for traction.

You know how i know youre gay??? lol

in all seriousness the et streets will do a lot better than the 555r's in terms of hooking but the nittos will last longer. personally im in the same boat as you between which i want to get, but since my car wont really see the track more than once or twice next year, ill probably go with the nittos.

Lolz, well he did have a female pic up, and really thought it was one, coming in here with the can u do math type thing, cmon give me a break.

I wanted to confirm with the best, and those who really know difference first hand. I am absolutely happy with nittos on the street, and that will never change, but am a lil disappointed with them at the track. I have cut 1.9s on my old federal street tires but had far less HP.
So I think for the price, the deal can't be beat. I'm gona try to meet with the guy today and take em off his hands.

Babycakes is my wife. I display her picture because I'm almost as proud of her as I am the car. lol. She happened to be driving the car when the signature picture was taken. It was by far coolest thing I've ever seen.
Buy you can call me Babycakes if you want. I'm sure nobody else will know

I can talk directly from experience. I couldn't do anything at the track with Nittos and my stall converter. Got MT's and dead hooked, gaining 3 tenths.

Nittos are great on the street. They wear better and are much safer in rain. I wouldn't be caught dead with MT's in the rain - well, most likely I would be dead.

So I do exactly what you're proposing to do. Run Nittos on the street daily driving and have spare wheels with MT's for the track.

Once again, I went to the track to see if i could hook with a soft launch and broke 11's 1.8 60ft. I did alot better this time around, but forgot that i Installed FP LCA's and Panhard bar. If deff felt better, but 1.8 was still the best i could break.
What sucks about the time slip, is that MPH was off, and at times not reading. Im glad i got snake eyes, but want to see an accurate MPH to see if it reflects the power i put down.

Default GOT SOME M/T's ET STREET

I ended up buying this pair with about 85% left in them for $150 bucks. Hope these work well.
