Default Toyo Proxy TQ Dr VS Nitto NT05 DR

Ok for those who have had both: How wide are they compared to each other? Which would hook better? Which would be better in the rain? I've read that the Toyo's last as long as Nitto 555rs. Guessing that both only need a short burnout.

I haven't tried the NT05s but I have the TQ's in a 315/35/17. I've had them for about a year now and they still have a decent amount of tread on them and I DD the car.

They hook really well, except when it's really cold out lol

How wide are they compared with the Nitto 555Rs, if you happen to know? Since you are running the same size tire that I want to run, 315, guessing it's not too bad out back.

I've owned both the Toyo TQ's and the Nitto 555R's in 315's, and the Toyo was MUCH wider, hooked a lot better, and lasted almost as long as the 555R's

Someone had posted a pic of the size difference between the NT05R and the 555R, about an 1 inch and a half wider for the NT05Rs, probably be the same size difference with the Toyos. Seriously considering this tire.....

The TQ in my size is a wide bitch. I have done the BHM and cut part of my bumpstop off and they still rub on the fenders on big dips.

i dont have toyo tq's that big, only 255's here, but for the price you cannot beat these tires. The compound is super soft but like stated they last a long time as well and arent too bad in the rain either. Really wish they sold a 15" 275 for my drag wheels

Toyo TQ have been a good seller here at the Tire Rack. Lots of positive comments.

What everyone else is saying about the Proxes TQ tires is true. I'm on my 2nd set of 315/35/18 tires. My first tire lasted about 20k miles, and about 2 years of daily driving, with lots of highway pulls, long trips, and very few burnouts. The first half of the life of the tire, there was no worry for me in the rain. After some good wear, they got sketchy like any tire, but nothing life threatening, just had to slow down on the highway. You shouldn't have ANY problem hooking on the street.

I just went to the drag strip last weekend on my new set, and with the 35 sidewall and a Monster clutch, I just don't have enough sidewall to get some good traction. I only pulled off a 2.01 60'. A wider sidewall and an auto would be some serious traction.
