Default Nitto 555s. 275/40

Ive got some nitto 555s on the back of my trans am. Good tread. Anyone else run these? do they hook decent on the street?

I have them. I would just spin 1st gear when it was bolt ons. Now that its cammed I spin 1st-2nd till I hit 3rd then it gets straight. I just went with some 315 toyo tq drags.

Thanks just got it not too long ago. has good tires....But... Im gonna want some sticky street tires. prefer to stay in a 275/40- 315/35.
Have been thinking about the nitto nt05r or nitto 555rs or something like that

nt05r over the 555rs. MTs hook better but you'll get less miles out of them. Look into the Toyo Poxes Tq. I've heard they hook better than the 555rs.

ive had good luck with 555Rs, hook pretty good ona a bolt on car, only time they break is on spray they break loose for a second then grab

The 555 tire is ok. It isn't going to win you any competitions or anything, but they are an awesome street tire for daily driving. 555r is better for launching. There are better tires than that though. It all depends on how competitive you want to be vs how long you want the tires to last and how street driveable you want it.

I have them in 275/40/17 all around on my SS, I've put about 1500 miles on them so far. Only thing that bugs me is that they are kind of noisy at anything past 55 mph or so, but definitely hook and handle well, a good looking tire too.
