I have a 2000 SS as well, and I've been putting in a ton of time researching wheels while I put money in the more immediately needed stuff. That is a good point about going 9.5 all the way around. the 35 offset seems within range. make sure you get a 5x120.65 (5x120.7, too?) bolt pattern. A lot of people have advised against getting 5x120 bolt pattern wheels (BMW, etc.), although there are a lot more cool choices, so a lot of temptation to do so. I think for the money I'll be going with a set of RPM R505 19 inch 9.5 5x120.7 hyper silver wheels. They're less than 200 bucks apiece and they look great.
