Best way to get rid of brake dust stains.
I have a set of C5z06 rims, and the fronts have some pretty bad brake dust stains. They are beyond regular wheel cleaner. I've finally gotten the car back together, and I want to reverse my younger self's neglect. Is there a way to get this stuff off without hurting the rim? Should I just give up, scrub the **** out of it with a brillow pad, and get someone to bake on gunmetal gray/black?

Use a wheel cleaning spray for painted wheels and scrub with a wheel brush. Follow the directions and don't leave it on there too long or it will eat through the clear coat. Doing one wheel at a time will ensure this won't happen. Rinse the wheels off and use a claybar if the wheel cleaner didn't remove all of the stain. If this doesn't remove the stains it's into the clear coat so you'll have to strip it off and powdercoat the wheels.

I've resorted to using mothers polish. I know it isn't good for the clear coat, but if it really messes it up I'll just get them painted. In which case they would be cleaned with more abrasive stuff anyway.
