Question Rear Tire Size Question??

Hey guys. I'm looking at putting 275/35/18s on the front of my NHRA edition Formula for sure and my only question is how wide I can go in the rear without BFHng? I like the staggered look so I want to put 20s in the rear and want to have as much contact as possible. I'm running 275/40/17s in the rear and 275/40/16s in the front now and with all the mods done I'm stuck at the light spinning out while lesser cars take off on me ..then I catch up and pass. Hence the wanting to go wider in the rear. Please advise soon fellas..I'd like to purchase real soon. Thanks in advance.

315's on wider wheels, if you are lowered you will need an adjustible PHB to ensure no rubbing.

Thanks for the quick response. Can I put a 38 offset in the front? or do I have to go with 15?

I hvae nitto nto5r 315/35/17 (12.5" wide) with a 17x11 +54mm offset rim and that is as big you can go. Im right on the edge of the outer fender and had to a little but not much , beat on the inner fender to fit. Also had to buy an adjustable panhard bar. I dont think a 38mm offset will fit

Maybe the traction issue is with the tire itself and not the width? 275-285 should hold quite a bit of power, 100% depending on the quality.

I have 20s and going with Nitto Invo 255/30 front, 285/30 rear.
Let me know if you find any "affordable" tires over 295 width in a 30 series lol, You are very limited on tire sizes for 20s to fit an fbody.

Edit: Also, general consensus is 28" rear diameter is near the limit without getting into heavier mods.

why do so many not want to roll or bh ? it looks 100x better with a bigger rear tire, the hammer marks will never be seen, n rolling protects from slashing a pricey *** tire

Exactly! Mine just tried to eat my be tires last week. I am replacing the busted *** bump stops, rolling the fenders, and putting an adjustable phb on tonight. Also did bfh mod. Can't see hammer marks! Rolling the inner fenders actually make the back end look more finished. The mods are aesthetically pleasing, helpful, and cheap. Just do it right. Plus I have spent about half the price of what a new tire would cost.
