Default 17x11 rubber

I know this topic has been beaten to death but I cant find anything recent and I would like to get some pics as well, I see a lot of you guys run this set up.

I just ordered my zr1 17x9.5 and 17x11 wheels, and it seems like the only promising tire available for me, my needs, and my budget, is the nt05. (275/40/r17 and 315/35/r17)

My car is not a DD. I only take it out once in a while for some street abuse and don't plan on going to the track any time soon.

Anyways is there any other tire available in this tire size or wheel size that I should consider? Could I go taller?

Can anyone post pics of this set up?

Maybe a dumb question but how do DR respond in the twistys? I am considering running Nt05r in the rears. Is that going to kill me in the corners/spirited street driving?

If you want a longer lasting type of dr that will do okay in the twistys and rain look into the Nitto 555R or Toyo Proxes TQ. I wouldn't go taller either

Toyo R888s... if you want the same level of grip front and rear. But they don't last, howl like a son of a bitch, but are good in the rain, great in the twisties, and hold the power from a dig almost as well as a short-sidewall drag radial at street PSIs.

R888 are an R compound road course tire. They will heat-cycle out if you use them on the street a lot, which means the overall grip level of the tire will deteriorate long before the depth of the tread gets too shallow. All of the people who I know that have run these tires (5 to 7 people who use their cars for autocross, track days) say they are junk and will not be purchasing them again. Honestly, the NT05 is a decent choice, also look at the Kuhmo Ecsta XS (more cornering grip than the nitto, shorter tread life). Unfortunately the tire selections for 315/35r17 is dwindling unless you want a drag radial.

I have R888s on the front and rear. I don't DD my car but I drive it whenever I can. I love these tires in the corners. I don't really do anything from a dig since I don't want to blow my rear end out again.

275/35R18 and 315/30R18 I know they are 18's but figured youd want the pictures.

I have been very happy with my NT-05's. Drag radials were better in a straight line, worse in all other aspects. If launching your car is not your primary need, the NT-05 would give you plenty of everything. They are going to be better than most street tires, just not drag radial level.

I am going to go with these or the nto5's.

You need to jack up the rear of the car by the axle pumpkin, not by the chassis so its still at ride height. You are getting hung up on the bumpstops when the suspension is at full droop.

yes I will be once the rubber is mounted, but my main concern is the actual inner fender. I am at stock ride height, and couldn't even get the wheel mounted flush to the hub with the suspension completely unloaded. I didn't realize how much hammering will be needed.

If I lift the car from the rear end and keep the bump stops, they wont rub on the wheel at all when driving?

The tires will likely rub a little, so you will really only need to do very little BFH'ing to get them to not rub.
I have 17x11s with 315s but I also have a watts link. I barley had to do any BFH'ing, I have no rubbing at all. You will certainly need an adjustable PHB if not a watts link.

I was actually looking for a watts link set up for the near future. I was just a little surprised when I couldn't even fit the wheels without the tires on.. I will try lifting the car from the rear end later
