Default 325 for Street Use

Hey guys!

Been a while since I've posted on here. Im currently looking into getting new tires for the rear on my white 98 T/A. I have black c4 ZR1 rims. 17 inch rims. Im not sure if they are 9.5 or 11 inch wide. Regardless, I will be getting new Rims. The tires i currently have in the back are Nitto 555 315/35/17. The fronts are nittos as well ( 555- 285/35/17 I believe ).

I love how wide my rear tires are and love how they hook fairly well. What I do not like is how tall they are and how they fail to fill the gap from tire to fender lip. I would like to get a taller tire, 28 Inch max, to help fill in this gap. I would rather not be Lowering the rear end because I like the current ride height since It is my daily driver. I also love the look of a small rim with lots of sidewall ( classic muscle car look )

The rims ive been looking at to mount my new tires are are 15 inch. Very simple rims, yet are a glossy black like my current rims

The tires ive been looking at are 27.9 inch tall which is 3 inches taller than my 555/35/r17

I figured I would lay out all of this on here and let you guys give me your opinions. Y'all are the experts and I would love to hear from you guys. Also the car is an LS1 car and has Heads/Cam/Fuel System/Exhaust/3.73 gears/ 4L60E with ~3000 stall

Well, to run those wheels you'd need a narrowed rear. It said they were 4.0 backspace. With a 15x10 it needs a 7.5 back space to put it in the stock location.

I ran 325's on my old CCW setup. I had to do some inner fender massaging with a big *** hammer, but other than that, they fit great.

You would need a whole new rear, which means an *** load of money. And no, there is no way to make a 4.0 backspacing work on a stock length rear without looking like Joe Dirt.

If you switch to a 28's tire you will have abs and brake lights on in your dash, because of the tire height difference. If you're set on a 28" tire and are OK with driving around with dash lights on then I would recommend considering a 295/55/15 or 275/60/15. 325/50 is a really tight fit and will require adjustable panhard bar and some inner fender hammering. I have 325/50's on my car, once they are worn out I'll switch to 295/55/15. If it was my daily driver I'd just consider lowering the car to work with a 315/35/17.
