Default CCW Owners - Couple questions

In a few weeks, I plan on pulling the trigger on a set of CCW's. I'm leaning towards the 505's but undecided whether I go with a 18" or 19" wheel. CCW mentioned I will have more tire options with a 19 versus the 18. My car is putting down over 700rwhp so while I don't expect it to hook with a low profile, the more choices the better.

My concern is with a 19" rim coupled with crappy North East roads, I will be getting these fixed every other day. I don't know if an 18" would be much different. Personally I like the look of the 19's but I'm looking for experience from folks to comment if their wheels have held up rather well to adverse road conditions. I drive cautiously but we all know it takes one mistake to have a problem.

Also, can new CCW's only be purchased from CCW or are there deals to be had elsewhere?

I've never had any issues with driving on CCWs. I've owned 19" 505s and I had no problems. I'm up North so I feel your bad road pain.

It's my understanding that CCW has no vendors, and you only buy them direct from them. It keeps the end costs down since there is no middle man to pay.

Good luck.

I have no issues with mine, driving daily. The roads here aren't the best, but they are probably better than what you are up against.

You would have a lot better luck getting a larger DR to hook on the 18's than on the 19s. My buddies stock C6z wouldnt hook with 325/30/19 DRs. But the 19s do look great. If youre going to run a street tire I'd go with the 19s. If you plan on running a DR id go 18.

I was the previous owner of Furious1's CCW's, which are the 505a's 19" fronts and 20" rears). I never had any issues with them, and the roads here in Missouri are pure ****. Now, if you know there is a pothole ahead, then you obviously try to avoid it or slowly go over it, but it's not going to bend the rim. Plus, the ride quality was perfectly fine with the 19/20 inch combo, and it looks damn good to boot. And, in all honesty, the traction wasn't that bad for a big wheel. Tire selection there is key. Hope that helps.

Yeah, this was with 325 Continental DW Extreme rears. Pretty damn good tires.

Thanks for the responses. It sounds like these wheels are rather strong and should hold up well given I don't drive into a sinkhole . I have a set of Weld RT-S wheels for the track so I don't plan on racing with these anyway. A DR on a 18 will surely hook better but I just need something reasonable to avoid spinning at ludicrous speed. I'm willing to sacrifice a little traction for a 19" look.

CCW recommended going with a 10" front and 11" wide rear with the 19's. Tire sizes would be in the 275 30 19 front/305 30 19 rears range. Any good tire recommendations? I don't plan to go cheap and have no issue paying a premium for better performance.

I had the Continental DW Extreme's on the fronts and rears, and they worked great. Rode great, wore great, and looked nice.

I actually just put on a new set of the Continental Extreme DWs on the front wheels today. Of course there is a ton of life left on the rears. Great tire, rides great.

They're as strong as any other wheel will be, but the advantage is that if you unfortunately do bend a rim, you can simply disassemble it, and replace the bent rim shell, which isn't all that expensive to do.

Most the CCW's are not three piece wheels. The classics are, but not the 505a's, SP500, etc.
