Question widest tire to fit on 01/02 ws6 wheel

Just curious what you can fit without banging out the fenders? 295? 305? Or 285?

295s will fit no problem. I have 18X10.5s with 295s and didn't have to do a thing. 305s will depend on the wheel and 315s will definitely require some modding.

I wouldn't go wider than 275. The rim is only 9 inches wide; anything bigger than 275-285 is meant to go on a wider wheel. You may suffer from handling issues with a bulging sidewall. Get bigger wheels to safely run a larger tire.

9.5" is the Corvette width -- and all aftermarket "oe-looking" wheels. These cars (SS/WS6) came with 9" wheels.

With that said, you can run a 315 on the 9" wheel (my friends have ran Nitto 555R 315's on theirs for years). Whether one feels comfortable or not doing so is purely subjective. The fact is that larger than 285 will mount to factory-width wheels.

Get an adjustable panhard bar and you'll be able to make them fit without issue.

9 1/2" wheels were not offered on the 4th gens. The back of the wheel should have a 17X9JX50.0 stamp. The 50 is 50mm offset. If you measure one it will be 9" between the beads.

People make the mistake of measuring outside to outside.

Lol got one of them already

I think I'll just check prices if I can get a good deal on 285 I'll do that. Plenty big enough for my little mods

Nitto tires are also known to run considerably narrower than other manufacturer's tires of the same so-called width...

This is true, my 275 nt555 tires look more like a 265 tire.

Anything larger than a 275 really starts to get unnecessary for these cars anyway. Plenty of insanely fast cars out there on 10.5" tires and 275's. Sure, it looks cool, but in reality tires are just more expensive and it slows you down with the additional rotating weight.

Correct

Definitely not gonna argue that point as it's a good point to mention to put things into perspective.
