drag radials on stock 16"
Want to get some toyo proxy drag radials on my stock wheels was looking at the 255/50 are those the best to run on? I noticed they sell a 275/45 also.

Im running 275/45/16 Toyo TQs on a pair of 16" stock snowflake wheels and they are great. Hook great on both street and track, drive well on the street too and had no problems in the rain at 60mph.

The stock rims are 16x8 and the widest tire for the stock 8" wide rim is generally recommended to be the 245/50/16. A 275 width tire is usually NOT recommended for an 8" wide rim...9" wide is the minimum for a 275 width. Obviously from the post above, it'll "work", but I'm not sure it's the safest set-up...especially to be running at the track when you're probably trapping well over 100 MPH...
I personally run 255/50/16's at the track on my stock 16x8's and that's pushing it according to the FAQ sticky at the top of this forum...

I'm actually running the 255/50/16 Mickey Thompson on my 16x8 and don't have any problems, but I have to admit, the sidewall does look a little "bowed out" compared to how the 245/50/16 looks...

My 275s on my stock wheels aren't bulged that bad... They are much thinner than my 275/35/18 street tires too. I guess it comes down to personal preference on how much bulge is too much. Running 325 mickeys and hoosiers on 15x10 wheels is something I hear of often so I can't see how 275s on 16x8s could be so bad. However if you're not making big power some 245 drag radials will still get the job done no problem. Doesn't really matter too much.

Some sidewall bulge always looks great to me.
255s are no problem on 8" wide wheels. In fact, 255s will fit 7" wide wheels just fine too, if you're using a tire with a tall sidewall (such as 60-series). With shorter sidewall tires (50-series, 40-series, etc.) you usually can't run as wide of a tire for a given wheel width.

That's pretty slick!
I've just always liked sleeper cars, people already think mine is a v6 hahaha.
It's an 01 b4c, so cloth interior, hardtop and stock exhaust, for now.
It can surprise some guys.

Any one having issues with the ABS going into ice mode with the different tire sizes? I have noticed mine doing it ever since I went to a 255 Toyo on the stock 16inch rim.

I used to have 275/40 front, 285/40 rear (0.32" height difference) and never had any issues. 245/50 vs. 255/50 is a difference of 0.39", which is only 0.07" more than my combo above, so I'm shocked anyone would have an ABS system issue due to such.
