Default plz help on choosing a 26" or 28"!!!!

Hey guys.. I'm about to order some m/t et street radial but undecided on which size tire to buy for my 15x10 wheels. My setup is in my SIG. & keep in mind I went with a 4l80e & still have the 4:10 gears.. oh and my shift points are at 6.700 rpm..

What converter?

28" will have a better chance of hooking consistent due to more sidewall and rollout, I prefer the look of a 26" but looks don't get you down the track

FTI 3800, OK thanks for your opinion & I would prefer them for the same reason but your right of the traction issue.. Hope to get more opinions from others...

26" is what I'd go with. I'm running a 26" Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial setup on my 15x10 rears right now, and I really like them. I'm 6 speed making around 450 rwhp and they dead hook. A 28" tall tire may throw off your ABS.

How fast as your moving now? Where do you cross the traps in terms of RPM? If you are running out of gear in 3rd, then the 28s will help. If you're crossing the traps below peak RPM now, moving to a 28" will hurt you.

Looks like the 4.10s give you 125mph @ 6700 RPM potential. The 28s give you headroom to 136mph at the same RPM in 3rd gear.

Go with 28's and don't look back.
It may take 1 or 2 mph off of your trap, but a stronger hook off the line will more then make up for it.
It will mess with your abs, but just pull the fuse..

You never answered any of Jakes questions. The answers of which are important when selecting a tire diameter.
28s will probably require adjustable LCAs.

Oh ****! My bad.. Well I have some 28" m/t drag slicks that I tried & it just goes into 3rd gear right before the trap... Ran a 7.6 @93 mph 60'1.78... Not sure how try this is but I was told that the slicks are slowing me down a bit so that's why I want to try the et street radial

BTW that was in a 1/8 track.. 1/4 is to far
I just thought I would be faster with auto than m6.. Car was running 7.4 @94 mph 60'1.67 when it was m6 with 26" m/t slicks dumping @ 6,300 rpms

From what I've seen, dedicated 1/8 mile drag cars have very steep gears to get into top gear well before the traps. You definately don't want that for a street car. To make the most out of your 4.10s for the 1/8 I would use a 26" tire.

The previous setup you had with the M6/26" tire looks more ideal to me going through the traps in 3rd at 6500 laying the power down.

Nah. just trim the inside leading edge of the rear bumper. Can't even notice it when you look at it.

Well I'll be taking it to the 1/4 mile track as soon as I decide which size tire I get.. So I'm more worried about hitting good et at the 1/4

All I did is the fender roll up & its fine.. I actually put a 325-50-15 m/t et street & was good too...
