Default Toyo R888

How would the Toyo R888's perform with 600rwhp being placed on them?

I have them on my set up and I spin through 3rd no problem. I'm only 415/400 to the tire with 315s and 4.10 gears. They are phenomenal for cornering though.

I have them on my supercharged LS1 and they stick very well for a street tire. Noisy tire though.

I hate to cough up that coin, but it seems like the best tire for my car will be the pilot super sport. I hate to pay that much for them, but if the R888 is noisy i really don't want them.

I'm running a 275/40/17 R888 on my H/C LQ9 making 463rwhp and 430tq with a 6spd and 4.10s. They work really well on my car! 1st gear is a no go on traction but 2nd on up with some heat in them they hook pretty dang good! I like them!

What's the date code on yours?

I love mine. I run a pair in the rear and I can hook 2nd gear if I roll into it. 480rwhp. I've run 11.2 with them on an unpreped track.

Hmm reading others responses maybe mine are old. I will look when I get home. They are still awesome in the corners though.

I can't really hear mine over my exhaust. I run them only on the rear though.

I have them front and rear with a quiet exhaust and they whine going down the road. I love the tire other than that. Very sticky. I run 335/30/18's in the back and can roll on in 2nd gear with no wheel spin....unless it's cold out, that's a different story..lol They are also decent in the rain, much better than I thought they would be.

I'd like to add a footnote:

These tires do not do overly well in the cold. I had the car out last weekend (it was about 55*F) and did a highway pull. Clearly not the most ideal conditions, however it was treacherous. While shifting from 3rd to 4th at around 100mph I broke traction and sent the car sideways. I'm alive.

Yeah there's no way you are spinning R888s that much with that low power unless it's below 40.

They must be old then. I forgot to look at the date stamp but it's been way above 40 and have no issues doing that.

I drove my R888's yesterday morning when it was 35 deg. and they were absolutely worthless lol. But it later warmed up to 60 and they were back to their grippy normal self.

They're an R compound tire, and require more heat to get sticky than any drag radial. Take that FWIW.

I had some 315/30/18s a few years back on a turbo car making 500rw thru an unlocked 4l80e and they'd hook in 2nd gear in over 60* weather. They were very stable tires, felt like a normal radial in normal driving conditions.
