bad set of 275/60/15 mickey pros
hi everyone ive talked to alot of people about these mickey pros and they said they was a good tires well not so much for me ..ordered a set from jegs got them on friday the 24th and installed them on the car drove 65 to 70 miles on the street with them and wires are showing in tires rubber was falling off the tires driving down the road but yet there d.o.t tires. called mickey thompson and there telling me 65 to 70 miles on the street normal driving is like 280 track passes on them at the track... even tho i have friends and everyone else i see getting good street use out of them and track use alot more then 65 miles...
talked with MARK at mickey Thompson and he tells me there not to be used on the street and there no warranty with these tires even when rubber is falling off of them under normal driving ... heres some pictures for u guy so i would think hard before i ordered a new set of mickey pros ....the tire shop couldn't be leave the way the tires did knowing they just put them on my wheels Friday.

It's says right on the side of the tire, not for highway use.
I am extremely happy with my Gen 1 MT ET street radials. Hook incredible at the track and drive excellent on the street. I didn't have good luck with the M&H DRs.

If I'm not mistaken the new MT Pros are a completely different animal. "Old" drag radials could be driven on the street and raced and have a little longevity to them. We have always run Hoosier DRs and had good luck on the street and track. However, I believe the new MT Pros (they only make the one size correct?) were made for race classes requiring a "DOT" tire and in no way shape or form are to be driven on the street. The are a race only tire that COULD be DOT legal but just like in your case, won't last any length of time at all.

Wow, that sucks. I can see them not warrantying them since you used them on the street under a normal circumstance (1k + miles) but to be doing that in 60 miles? There's something wrong with that tire and it could cost you your life, as well as others around you, and they should be doing anything they can to get that tire off your car.

Exactly, it even states 2 times on their site that they are for "race use only, not for street use" http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...treetRadialPro

So there has to be something else going on.
I would like to add that I believe tire's are manufactured by "lot's", with hundred's or maybe thousand's produced from the same vat of rubber compound.
So the odd's of only one set of tire's failing out of a "lot" are very very small.
There must be something going on with the op's car.
Either that or we should soon be hearing of several more failures of these tires.

Something was definitely wrong here. I would've expected at least 500 street miles out of these.
FWIW I have gotten ~1000 miles out of a set of ET Street bias plies, no burnouts on them, just a few highway rolls, mostly riding around under 35mph looking cool.

Don't suppose you might have done a burnout or hard launch prior to driving on them? What kind of speeds during the drive?
If the compound was overheated I could def see it start to chuck tread.
The big lesson here is if anyone else gets a bad set (if that's the case) don't mention using them on the street. I would hold onto them OP and keep searching the internet for more cases of people have problems. If you can determine yours and theirs are from the same batch you might still be able to get a credit.
