275/40 17 cooper zeon on 11 inch zr1 wheel
I know that the sticky indicates that for a zr1 11 inch wheel to use 305 or wider tire. According to Cooper website, the zeon rs3-a will fit on an 11" wheel. They don't make an all season 17" tire larger. This is my daily driver and I do need to have all season tires on it. Will these fit and look fine, in your opions? Thanks

I bought my car with 275's on a 11" wheel and it looks stupid and stretched. 275's are perfect on a 9" wheel and 305-315's are perfect on a 10.5-11" wheel. Look into Summitomo HTR series tires. They are not top of the line, nor bottom of the barrel and I believe they offer all season tires. But 11" wheel on a DD in an area that may see snow is already asking for trouble even if it is an all season tire lol.

stumped..
I have a question, hope someone can help. I have a 2001 ws6, nothing done to it. was wondering what would be a good wheel and tire package would be? possibly pics to show? also, what backspacing and offset would work good with it?

The only all-season tire in the correct size for a 17x11 is the Nitto Motivo. I have them on my car and I like them so far. I was contemplating throwing a set of winter tires on 16" wheels and then having a sticky set of summer tires on my ZR1 wheels but ultimately I can't stand to look at my car with ugly wheels and skinny tires on it. The Motivos are doing the job in getting me around in the winter and look good while doing it. Still wouldn't drive in any kind of real snow on the big 315s but they should be a little better in freezing temperatures than summer tires.

I would not drive this car in the snow, regardless of the tires on it. But it is my DD (I'm retired so I don't HAVE to drive it and have my wife's Accord if needed to drive in snow). but I will drive it in the cold and rain/slush running errands, going to the gym, etc. The all-season Bridgestones I have on now, about 9 years old with plenty of tread left slip and slide in cold wet weather on inclines and I want to not have to worry about that. Looks to me that I'll go with the Nitto Motivo's. Interestingly, the reviews on this tire are all over the place so will likely give it a shot, rather than going with summer tires. First though, gotta deal with the bumpstops. After searching on this forum, looks like several alternatives for me (excluding removing them). One thread showed how to relocate the stop onto the axle, another just sliced it thinner, and a third ground the inner wheel well, welded a piece of 1/4 steel plate to mount the bumpstop further inside the wheel well.
Also, the person that I bought the wheels from gave me the worn tires so I could see how it would look and feel. The front 17x9.5's have 255/40-17's, and I can now see what a stretched tire would look like so I won't be doing that.

275/40s on an 11" wheel looks horrible to me; stretched and silly. Even 285/40 looks wrong on an 11" wide wheel IMO.
I would stick with a 9-9.5" wheel for those sizes.

^^^Totally agree, that and on a DD I'd want to be able to properly rotate my tires, thats one of the main reasons I went with Cooper RS3-S's instead of Nitto 555's .

Yeah, I'm convinced that I'll not try to put a 275/40 on the 11" rim. I like what I read about the cooper zeon rs3-a as an all season tire - would put them on the front 9.5" wheels. Another option for me is to sell/trade the 11"'s for 9.5"'s. Going this route eliminates my need to mess with the bump stop, as well as being able to get the rs3-a's all around. decisions decisions decisions.

I have to agree with this, 275/40 actually borders on looking too small on a 9.5" wide wheel. On the late C4 Corvettes, they used a 285/40 tire on the rear 9.5" wheel and I always felt this was a better fit. But I wouldn't say the 275 looks "bad" on a 9.5", it's just the absolute narrowest I would ever consider for that width wheel. I think 275mm on the 9" wide OEM SS/WS6/Firehawk wheels looks better and is a perfect fit vs. 9.5" repros or OE C4 wheels.
