Quietest 315 35 17 tire for highway driving?
Hi guys, im shopping for 315/35/17 tires that will go on my Camaro and I was wondering which tire will have the least amount of road noise when cruising but especially on the highway. Any advice or recommendations are appreciated.
Also, is there some way to tell by the tire ratings or tread what I can expect from road noise ?

Within the same manufacturer, I'd recommend looking at their tire comparisons on road noise. Else I'd use a site like discounttires.net or tirerack.com to compare across manufacturers.
It shouldn't be too hard to find the relatively quietest 315/35/17 since there are so few true street-only varieties remaining.
* Kumho doesn't have one I'd consider a true street tire. I've used their Victoracers & A6 competition tires in the past.
* Nitto has the Motivo and NT555 which are ranked as their two quietest tires in this size. I've not used either, only their drag radials over a decade ago and more recently their NT05's in the 315 width.
* Goodyear has their GS-D3, very expensive. I've used these in a narrower width.
* Sumitomo has their HTR-Z, but I've never owned this brand and have read a lot of complaints about it.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. If you're looking at an inexpensive all-season tire then I'd lean towards the Motivo or NT555, but if you have the funds I'd recommend the GS-D3.

Thanks for the info and I will definitely do more research. Are these the NT555's your talking about? If so, would they work on a 10.5 wheel?

Thanks for the input guys. I ended up going with the nt 555. I did a lot of product and price research and i think i got a good deal. After pestering the assistant manager all morning he lowered the price. With their warranty and everything thing else i was out the door at about 836.

sorry, it was 838. I felt like it was a pretty good deal for everything including warranties. I got them from discount tire here in town. I'll post pics when they're installed next week.

The Goodyears Eagle F1 GSD3 has good noise comfort and performance. At one time not too long ago these were considered the best maximum performance tire.
