Default Nitto NT05 Tread Life?

Curious what I can get out of these. I'm shooting for 400whp and going to run 315/35r17s on the rear. It's a daily street car so I do not want to run a drag radial. I'm consider these against the NT 555 G2s.

I just did some simple math to guestimate tread life. Nitto's all season tire has a warranty of 60,000 miles and a tread rating of 620. That would mean 1 tread life rating is equal to ~100 miles.

Is it stupid of me to use this with the nt05 which are rated 200 to assume I could get around 20,000 miles out of them? If I could that'd be great, otherwise I'll have to get 555 non Rs.

Just curious what the TREAD life is as well as what kind of miles it'll run before I'm running on cords!

I'd be shocked if you got 20k miles since they come with 7.2/32" tread. Also have fun in the rain with them.

Well I'm on a 3-400whp 2jz no v8 torque spinning tires so they may last a bit longer. I dunno, I think I"m just going to go 15x8 wheels with 275 555rs since my car isn't nessecarily a full daily yet. Assuming a taller 555r will grip much better straight line than nt05s. Just would like to go 17s all around so I could have matching wheels and 17s are easier to come by.

Edit..

315/35/17 nt05 (non-r) vs 275/50r15 555r?

Also would the 275/50/15 555r have substantial more straight line grip than a 315/35/17?

I got 14k with them on my Lightning and they were very worn when I replaced them. I get about 30/35k with some 555's on my L.

Here is my opinions of them compared to my go to performance street tire the Nitto 555.

Pro to the NT05's:
-They handle very well for a street tire.
-Surprisingly do a great job in the rain.
-IMO they are a cool looking tire.

Cons to the NT05's:
-They suck at planting any kind of power. Regular 555's hook up much better IMHO.
-They wear out very quickly.

I prefer 555's as a good street tire all things considered. They don't handle quite as well as a NT05 but they still are a very good handling street tire, they work well in bad weather conditions for a performance tire, they hook as about as well as a street tire can be expected to, and they last over twice as long as NT05's.

Thanks for your opinion! I'm looking at 555r's not 555s. But I could consider the 555 g2 which is pretty new for a 17" wheel. I keep going back and forth it's pretty awful! Deciding on what to get to maybe get a match 17 and 15 set. Or just go both 17" cobra wheels front and rear.

I'm assuming the R compound should hook much better than both sets, not sure how bad running 15s in the rear would affect my handling feel though. It's still just a street car. however it'll be easy to win any run off a light if I actualy have a first gear.

A 555r and a regular NT05 are to very different tires. A 555r tries to be a DR for a street car. It does a decent job of hooking up a 500 or so hp car but isn't as extreme as other DR's. I use to get about 10/11k out of them on my old pulleyed Cobra. The NT05 is all about handling for a 200 treadwear rated street tire. In my experience they sucks at planting power. They do make a 315/35-17 Nitto 555r BTW. I thought it worked pretty decent over all things considered on a 500 whp street car.

Hm. That makes my decision very difficult! Running 315s on my mk3 supra is less common I'm not sure how amazing the fitment would be. I know they also make the 275s as well.

I would prefer 17s so my car still has some handling sense and I can get matching cobra wheels. But not sure wouldn't the 15" tire grip considerably more since it's somewhat softer sidewall versus a regular street radial? But I'd love the look of beefy 15" tires but I"m worried people will think my car is faster than it is. I'm probably only goign to make 400whp at most for awhile.

Once I get my car running I was going to sell my daily and drive the supra all the time. 555rs aren't too bad but I do food delivery so I'd probably just swap to my oem wheels with junk tires for those. And probably run the 555rs down to beads. Or just get 555s and not worry about it, the new G2 555 is AA traction rated as well!

Have any idea how bad the 555s on 15s would hurt my handling characteristics? On a independent double wishbone rear suspension?
