Default Suggestion for rear wheel/tire

I am currently rolling on my stock 17x9's but as I add more engine mods, my ability to tear through street tires also improves. Anyone have some suggestions and hopefully pics of a decent drag rear wheel/tire that would look good with my stock fronts? Budget is ~$1000.

Thanks in advance

Nitto 555 Extremes all around. Non drag radial. Great dry and wet traction......

315 in the rear on the factory rims. I did that for 15 years, works perfectly. Wears perfectly. lasts 15,000 miles.

Stock size tires in the front.

Should only spend about $650.00-$700.00.....

....If you really want a drag radial that will only last 5,000 miles.....Nitto drag in the rear, 315 size.

You might try a stock size set of Mickey Thompsons on your stock wheels - as long as you don't plan to drive in the rain. If you want a serious upgrade, there are numerous five spoke drag wheels that would look decent with your fronts. I'd be looking at 15's with a 275/50 tire.

I put the Nitto 555 extremes on the rear and I still have very little traction. Shifting to 2nd at WOT and downshifting causes my rear tires to spin uncontrollably. Are there any other suspension mods that will help me hook?

Probably just need stickier tires, the NT555's are a 300 tread wear tire which is the same rating as stock goodyears.
I doubt suspension mods will help you at this point.

555 Extremes, as you've learned, will get you nowhere. I'll direct you again to my post above. You need a serious drag tire and 15's are probably the way to go.

If you don't have LCA relocation brackets, that might help. You will still probably need a tire.

Thanks for the info. It looks like 15x10 with some MT's is the next step.
