Different Front-Rear Tire Sizes & ABS
Anybody know how much difference in tire circumference
(ratio I guess) the ABS system will tolerate? I am thinking
of putting my spare pair of mounted 275/40 F1s on the fronts
and saving the GS-D3 285/40s for rear rotation (for some
reason my fronts last longer than the rears. Funny.).
But have heard of people running into trouble with the ABS
running bigs-'n'-littles, like the Z06 18 rear/ 17 front combo.
In my case this would be much less of a difference, but
would rather not find out about it during hard braking.
Anyone know for sure about what an F-body will stand
without getting squirrely or complaining?

The size of the tire and the rim really doesn't matter. What does matter is the tire diamter. For example you could run a 245/50/16 up front and 275/40/17 in the rear and you have zero issues because the tire diamter for both tires is 25.7 inches. When the tire diamters are different that is what causes problems for the ABS and ASR. The computer see's the tires spinning at different speeds and will try to adjust for it. I have heard of some people pulling the fuse for the the ABS and ASR at the track but I my self wouldn't want to take a chance like that.

My new tires (GS-D3s) are 26.12 and the old ones (F1s)
I guess are the 25.7 (however my stock PCM value said
24.91 though 25.7 is better math). That's a 5% difference
at the outside, less if 25.7 is the right number. But I figure
there's got to be a slip tolerance threshold in the ABS
"brain" and wonder if I'd be on the right side of it, or not.

As for mixing 275's and 285's, a problem could occur, although I seriously doubt it since the overall diameter of each tire is so close. The problem come into play whatn the tires are dramatically different, and usually the ASB light comes on.
I am running 275's and 295's luckily have not bee in a sitiation to find out the hard way . . . . . yet . . . .
