Default Rear Bump Stops? Please help.

Ok as I was painting my rear drum brakes and fender wells, I noticed that near my springs, right behind the tire and a little above there is this rubber piece that is bolted to the top with 2 bolts. Well whatever it is, it is severely worn down. In fact the one of my passenger side is not even there anymore but there are still 2 bolts there.

Anyone have any clue what this is? Ive been searching and searching and the only thing I think it may be is the bump stops. Ive never seen what bump stops look like.

Can someone help me? I want to replace whatever they are.

Also are they even all that neccesary. I dont really see a reasoning for them, but theres a reason for everything. Should I bother with replacing.

They are the bump stops. They limit the travel of the rear axle.

Some people take them out, others leave them. I left mine even running a 10" and 11" wheel.

What are the pros and cons?

I have a 9.5" wheel. If they are needed for any reason that I will notice I will purchase new ones.
