Default Balancing ET Drags w/ tubes

Got my new wheel/tire combo mounted / balanced today. I went with 15x10 Centerline Warriors with 26x10 ET Drags and tubes.

One wheel needed 4.5 oz. and the other needed 9 oz.

This HAS to be because of the tubes. All the weight was on the opposite side of the rim from the valve stem.

Does something sound messed up with this? With the same tubes and my old ET Streets / OEM wheels it only took like 2.5 oz.

As long as it's balanced, you'll be fine. If your that concerned, rotate the tire 180 deg and rebalance it.

Thanks Steve. I'm pretty sure it's not the tire, but I'm going to have them try rotating the tire on the one that needed 9 oz. of weights. Can't believe the tube is that heavy on one side though either.

No problem. You can't expect a wheel to be always exactly balanced when there are seperate components. Weld, material variance etc comes into play.

The important thing is that overall your rim is balanced in the end.

I had them spin the tire on the one today and it only needed 6 oz. after vs. 9 oz before. Much better. I'm not sure I'd even feel an out of balance condition at the track anyway I guess.

Actually, you would not feel one bit of a difference in balance as long as the wheel is balanced....even if it took a 1lb weight to balance it, it is balanced in the end and that is all that matters... *note 1 lb of weight added eats up hp/weight ratios away though as you are adding rotational mass to the rim.
