Default 275/17/ 55's on a SS???

I'm having ground clearance issues right now.. My new Torque Arm from spohn is scraping on all kinds of things...

if I were to put a tire with a higher wall, I could get a little extra ground clearance...

Dumb idea?

If you want to put SUV tires on your car...

That is 3" more in overall tire diameter. Not even feasible in my eyes.

What other suspension do you have? Lowering spring?

I'm unsure why your TA is getting close to anything.

Maybe you're just going over bumps too fast. You shouldn't be scraping anything if you're not lowered. Slow down over bumps.

I have'nt hit a speed bump yet. I have the torque arm made for the Long Tubes and the tunnel brace dips down to allow room for the exhaust to go through.. (I have a picture of my setup in the External engine section, setup with my TD's.

It bangs on the bar driving it onto a drive on lift. It scraped at the gas station the other night... I scraped REALLY hard going through a fast food parking lot. Scrapes pulling into parking lots sometimes.. even when I'm hitting it at a angle...The fastest I've ever been going when it's scraped was maybe 5mph, and that was the time going throught the fast food lot. I never even saw anything to worry about, and when I got out, their was just a small uprising, where I basically scraped going over the top of... Never even felt the car go up enouph to even notice it or anything when the front tires went over it.

My other Susp. mods are SLP SFC's, BMR STB, LCA's I have a PHB on, and I have a set of Koni shocks, and a Front Sway bar to put on, just have'nt gotten thier yet... And then TA from Spohn.

I don't really see any problems from your pictures. Sounds like you just need to be more careful.

Those tires will not work and would look beyond retarded.

I looked but could not find -any- high speed rated tires
in anything over a 40-series. Forget Z or Y ratings, maybe
a V or H rating you could get in 50s. The tread pattern on
these will probably be "passenger car" and not "performance
car" oriented and not be very good for traction.

I'm sure this isn't what you want to hear, but the simple fact is you've got a combination of aftermarket parts that just aren't going to work together. Sure, you made them fit, but you've sacrificed so much ground clearance that it's become a major issue for you.

Going with a 275/55R17 tire is just slapping one wrong on top of an existing wrong. We all know what that equals. Fix the problem at the source. Get over your denial and just admit what you've done isn't working out for you and fix it.

Well, if you say that your TA is causing problems, either fix it or find one that won't cause problems with the rest of your setup.

Who helped you with your setup? Did you just pick and choose what you thought would work?

The taller tire was a "IDEA" for "FIXING" the problem... Taller tire= car sit's up higher=better ground clearance and if it was a bad idea so be it. Better to ask here, than just run out and try it right?

The SFC's were suggestions from other board members, and they were awesome right from the start... THe car felt 10 times more solid, the T-tops quit leaking, dash squeaks went away, Nothing but good to say about them...

I did'nt notice much of a change at all with the STB...

I had wheel hop , so I put the LCA's on, and they "helped" but I still had a small amount at different times...

PHB and the Torque arm went on at the same time, and I no longer have wheel hop issues, and the SOTP feels like the car is feeling faster, with traction being a nice improvement.

The Shocks and Sway bar came from Talking with Sam at Strano...

Tires do not fix your TA problem. They would just be a band aid. Besides, they aren't a true option. I suggest fixing your TA problem.

and do you have a suggestion on what to do to help with the ground clearnace? Or is the suggestion, just a suggestion, with no answer for the problem...

Instead of getting a lowering kit, can I go backwards and lift the car a 1/2" or so?
