Default Question on backspacing for prostars

I need two rear 15x8 weld prostars for the rear on an LS1..what backspacing requires the least amount of grinding..but doesnt stick out like a mullet ride?..would 5.5 be too much? Thank's,

5.5" would tuck under nicely.

I've seen 15x8 questions now a few times within the past few days so maybe I'll kill two birds with one stone.

Regarding 15x8's, the only BS that is available that works ok is 5.5. Personally, to me, from the side it looks ok, but from the rear, the rims stick too far out and aren't centered in the wheel well.

It will make your wheel stick out further then stock...though its the ONLY choice you have as no other company manufactures them with a larger BS (...what I'm aware of...besides our Bogarts).

To give you an idea, if you've got a stock 16x8 inch rim on your car, it will vary between 6-6.5 inches BS (depending on year and style). This means your prostar will be moved from the center of the wheel well outward (towards the fender lip) 1/2 to 1 inch (depending on your stock wheels you have now).

We set our Bogarts w/larger BS so it is very close to stock.

Before you purchase rims (I tell this to all our customers) VERYIFY what rim the TIRE MANUFACTURE recommends. One can go up to a 26x11.5x15 ET street or Hoosier QTP very easily BUT you need ~10 inch rim to do this...8 inch rims are too small for these tires!

Hope this helps,

Steve

Good thing I didn't start a whole new thread for this. I have a 2000 Ram-Air. I would like to go with a simple 3.5" Weld Dragstar fronts and Weld Dragstar rears. For a tire, I would like to use BFG Dragradial. What size will fit the wheel? I assume I will have to use a 15x10 wheel with 5.5" backspace right? This is my weekend car, so I want to give a nice race look. I also plan on dropping it about an 1" all around, what spring kit will do that?

So far, my best pass has been a 13.41 @ 104mph on Kumho's (2.04 60ft). Will the front-runner, dragradial combination help out any on the ET's?

A 15x10 you'd want to use 7.5 BS.

A 15x8 w/5.5 BS as mentioned above, is even a bit small...a min. of 6 for that rim is better (meaning centering the wheel in the wheel well...tucking it closer to what a stock 16x8 sits), but if you only want welds or centerlines, you don't have any other choice.

Bogarts are your best choice if you want the best.

If you want to loose more weight, choosing our Bogarts over a weld prostar/draglite will net you ~ 50 lbs of converted static weight off your car!...more if you choose centerlines.

Damn those bogarts are real nice but expensive.....I wish there was a better alternative for us less fortunate folks. I'll stick with my Prostars 15x10s and 15x3.5 with these damn spacers for now

Steve you make a nice wheel though, time to start saving for next season I guess.
