Default Stock 17" rim question...

What is the size of the stock WS6 rim on a 2000 TA? 17 x 8? 17 x 9? What? Thanks.

Does anyone know what kind of affect going from a 17x9 wheel to a 17x10 wheel would be? Or to a 17x8 wheel?

what do you mean??
you talking about widening the stock wheels, or buying different wheels all together?
mine are widened to 11'' with no problems what so ever, and i love 'em
TONS of people have wider aftermarket wheels...there is no ill effect as long as you have to correct backspacing and offset and everything

Different wheels all together. I see places selling the different widths for our cars, but not really sure what kind of affect is has? For instance i was looking at Smoothie's, but all they had in stock was 17x8's. But they told me they can get 17x10's? Which one would be better overall? Which would look better?

Personally I think the 17x10 would look better. With 17x8 you would have to run a smaller tire...

Anyone know the best size tire to fit on a 17x10?

Xsta Z28 and Todd@discounttiredirect....or is it Todd@discounttireco are the best people to tlak to about wheels...most people here have a minimum of 17x8.5 up front and a max of 17x11 out back...(that is for the aftermarket in 17" wheels) what i meant by 2 much tire is that it sticks out way to much over the lip....theres actually a lip on the INSIDE of the tire against the wheel lip...there shouldnt be one there hte tire BULGES off his rim...NOT good..now for a 10" with 285's...should be no problem with rubbing...i havent heard of anything with Smoothies 17x10 rubbing with 285's...mayb even 295's unless they are LOWERED CARS...17x10.5 depends on offset and so does 17x11...its hit or miss any higher than 10's...there will be slight masaging of the inner wheel well because of the size/offsets...nothing a hammer cant fix...adn also do not lower your car 2" if you plan on going wider than 10..unless you wanna roll your fenders/fender lips....just my $.02...most of the info here is form research and some experience...im not a book of facts so some info may be incorrect...but overall it should be right

Well I won't be going any wider than 10", and the 8" that i saw for the smoothie's seemed to be too small to me, since the stock ones are 9". I do have a Eibach prokit on my car. So do you think 17x10 with 285/?-17 will be ok? I really don't want to have to do any hammering or anything.

if you want 10'' wide and you want a wide tire get the 315 nittos, they are quite a bit skinnier than others brand's 315s but they still look good and give a somewhat meaty look...not to mention they hook pretty damn well

But i thought with 315's, hammering needed to be done? Am I wrong?

Yeah i understand what you are saying. I am probably gonna go with the GS-D3's anyway. So what about an 18x9 setup? What would you reccomend for a tire size? Thanks for all this help by the way.
